"Vote Remain or you're a racist." Britain votes Leave. Insert surprised Pikachu face.
"Vote for Hillary or you're a sexist and a racist." Trump gets elected. Insert surprised Pikachu face.
Every fucking time, the left presents things as negatives and consequences like they're fundie preachers, FFS!

What about simple defiance paired with a lack of thinking things over and considering the outcome.
@Snowshadow Social movements—all of them—are based on inspiration. Inspiration is primarily based on positive narrative with a tinge of fear of consequences.
The American (and Canadian) left lack that narrative. Everything is framed in terms of "do this or X bad thing will happen". There's no "and if you do it, this Y good thing will happen".
Trump, the odious fatberg that he is, has a narrative that is positive to his target audience; he inspires them. The left reads like an income tax form.
@zdl@Snowshadow@GottaLaff No offense but I’m not sure you’re presenting at accurate picture here as you could say people said “vote for Obama or you’re a racist” and it worked 2 times or “vote for Biden or you get fascism” and it worked again. I’m also not sure you understand the differentiations between right and left in the US.

I think this goes back to my comment about how the left and right have swing so far apart and there is so much more animosity between the two.
@Snowshadow@zdl@GottaLaff The right swung itself far away from what it used to be, although it was always pretty easy to see the coding (Reagan, welfare queens) and the left has a fringe that’s also out of step with what’s good for society as a whole. The fringe left is unsuccessful at gaining and keeping office for the most part but the far right has worked its way into quite a bit of power. That does come from divisions where people on the left refuse to vote for the winnable candidate.

Also, that one example doesn’t explain any Democrat winning the Presidency which they have quite a few times and almost entirely every election popular vote wise. Hillary won the popular vote by the way.

That's actually pretty much how I feel about the average voter: willfully thick. Grown, clear-thinking adults should not need this much persuasion to vote correctly. Maybe they do need it, and more power to you if you think you can do it, but I'm appalled that you even need to.
In a sensible world, a career criminal who openly plans to impoverish the entire country wouldn't have a snowball's chance in hell of securing a majority of the vote for any political office. It'd be unthinkable.
@ZebKing No it's not a matter of everyone on both sides is wrong. I am thinking back decades past when people were not as divided. Look to before Reagan for example, the conservatives were not as extreme, they were willing to work with the opposition. Of course there was a difference of opinion but also there was some sense of we have to work together...less anger and hate rhetoric.

Look into the history of the National Action Committee on the Status of Women in Canada. The NAC was once a HUGE political force. It systematically tore itself apart from within until its dissolution was basically a mercy killing.

So I read the article, and it's not clear where such people would be deported to. If they are American citizens, I would assume he's talking about stripping someone of their citizenship and sending them to labor camps indefinitely.
Although whether that would actually happen is another question.

Expect them to be watching the UK plans to carry out third-party deportations to Rwanda. Very likely that TFG's guys will be thinking about the viability of deporting people from the US to some place where US law doesn't reach.

I'm involved in a conversation with this cat that wants to blame me if Trump wins because I haven't been nice enough to the campus protesters. They're children that don't want to take responsibility for anything it seems.
@GreenFire@Snowshadow@GottaLaff As a brief addition, that’s something I have seen starting to spread here the last couple of days- just “shut up” about anything about the Biden administration because “I’m changing my vote if you don’t” or some such. The intent is obvious.
It’s probably a new troll tactic being passing around the room at the newest offshoot of the Internet Research Agency. Probably something to watch for as they continually shift tactics when the last ones don’t work as well.
