@Fidoly@auscandoc@SocialistStan I don’t think it generally holds. Even if we set aside the increase in labor hours when we shifted from hunting to agriculture, just since WW2, we’ve shifted from single-income households to mostly dual income households. And retirement age keeps creeping up.
@zombierustpunk I actually came a cross an interesting article that stated that youth cultures and subgroup aren't the same any more like they used to. Due to mainly visuell-based social media plattforms, they mainly focus on looks and not values. Would be interesting if someone could do more research about that.
I once saw a reference to the older generation making fun of a young man for the way he cut his goatee, and wore his toga... Julius Caesar as a young man, before he became a dictator.
This happens in literally all societies in history that aren't in imminent danger of an existential threat. And sometimes, even in ones that are.
@zombierustpunk I love how hair is always involved. The baggy pants go with words shaved into their heads, the leather jackets go with greasy duck's butts, the flapper outfits go with short hair, etc. May as well go for the hair if such a big stretch is being made?
