@Alice I go in a few times a month - it feels weird and a little creepy to go in to our side of our campus (the administrative side vs. the training/kennel side). It's a ghost town since we are all working remotely now. We had to free up space for our guide dog trainers to work from safe social distances and we just kept the remote policy as a rule. Our side of the building will eventually get renovated to provide more space and to alleviate stress on our dogs in training, puppies, and breed dog Moms.
This sentiment was inspired by @miclgael talking about how he was #LARPing for the first time as an adult, but I'm pretty sure he meant actual LARPing, probably in a field with some foam swords.
@Alice@nuncio I first discovered LARPing when the university library’s digital preservation people moved into our office and one day I heard plastic thwacking coming from the parking lot at noon. I watched, mesmerized and appalled, these two apparent grownups for ten full minutes. It took another year before I found out it was an actual subculture. This was almost 20 yrs ago now, and it planted the seed of my desire to someday move as far away as possible from this land.
@RobSF@nuncio I remember hearing about a LARPing documentary called DARKON about fifteen years ago and I called Blockbuster every day for weeks but it was always out of stock. The copy was finally returned and the Blockbuster employee put it on hold for me and I can only imagine his disappointment when an awkward indie rock kid showed up instead of some dude in cardboard armor.
