I call it "futility messaging". It encourages apathy, inaction, & "do nothing, it's too late" fruitlessness . There is no fate but what we make. The planet does not need to fry. Democracy need not die. So enough with naysaying & doomerism to absolve people of standing up against those profiting from death.
