CEO walks out into the rain and is surprised he gets wet.

@carnage4life That reads like a headline from the Onion.

@klausfiend @carnage4life we are dominated by idiots in this capitalist culture

@BugFajita @carnage4life It's the same kind of heartwarming "failing upward" story as David Zaslav getting paid $50M to help Warner post a $3B loss for 2023.

I might file this one away for the next time I'm in a conversation with someone who thinks minimum wage is too high and also thinks there should be no ceiling on C-suite pay.

@carnage4life Oh, all those people were actually doing valuable things?

Who would have thought?

Natanox,
@Natanox@chaos.social avatar

@slothrop @carnage4life Perhaps it's projection.

They don't do that much, therefore they can't imagine those they pay too little to do way more than them all day long.

@carnage4life @weyoun6 Guess every CEO has to FAFO? Harvard business school has done pretty conclusive studies that show that layoffs almost always hurt the company long-term, but hey lets go with feelings instead of data!

@ThirstyGayGeek @carnage4life @weyoun6 Short-term "line go up" thinking. They plan on cashing out before "line go down".

@carnage4life When I read the article, it kinda sounds like they're using the layoffs as an excuse to explain why they didn't get enough done to shareholders. He also says it was still the right thing to do.

Scum CEO's are using layoffs as shields in dozens of ways now.

He’s also doubling down on renewing the contract for Joe Rogan. Got to cut costs to pay Joe the hot air blower.

@carnage4life I truly believe that the fact Twitter didn't actually crash and die technically in the first six months after the Musk layoffs was the big modern pivot point in the industry. All the other CEOs waited to see if laying off all the highly paid smart people and especially the troublemakers would actually crater ops and when that didn't happen they said Fuck Yeah Elon Is Right and went for it. Now obviously we're all in the Find Out stage together (it sucks)
