@fkamiah17 There were snipers at the university of texas the other day on the tower. Which, you know, considering the history of the university and sniper killing people from that tower, is fucking disgusting.
@fkamiah17 This proves precisely what higher ed staff know about university executives who populate the executive offices: most have zero people management and zero leadership skills despite the proliferation of vaunted PhDs.
They are unnecessarily escalating the likelihood of violence. They will kill their own students, and then be shocked, SHOCKED, when this happens.
Everyone who is not an idiot knows you reiterate the threshold of respect, violators of policy are given internal due process, offenders punished by suspension or expulsion. You do not use Cops to wage war or enforce college policies. Unless someone commits a crime of violence; then it's a police not university matter.
Putting up a tent, drumming, making impassioned speeches, not going to class is not a crime.
This level of conscious choice to allow armed, armored uniformed forces to man-handle and punish your own students (or invite in police snipers) should result in executive terminations for incompetence. Administration KNOWS they can always wait out students to the end of term. They are choosing this escalating violent path because of fear of donors and politicians. Some kid is being beaten and sacrificed because of a lack of moral authority. Shame on them.
@fkamiah17 Unbelievable. What I just cannot understand is how people involved cannot see how disproportionate the measures are compared to the actions of the people being watched/suppressed/... Does nobody validate their actions against principles anymore? Have we degraded to: I do not like your opinion, so any measure is allowed?
@fkamiah17 I live by that campus. The building is the student union. Here you can see peaceful protesters in the foreground. Zoom in on the tower in the background and you’ll see two men up there.
@fkamiah17 At least 22 new arrests today for the crime of having illegal tents. State police came in with assault rifles and riot gear. Those arrested are being banned from campus for a year, including some professors it seems.
@fkamiah17 A few hours earlier 22 were arrested here in #BloomingtonIN for having tents at their #FreePalestine protest. Already the tents and people are back.
