It's probably best not to engage with dead-enders who'd rather watch society burn than be adults & vote for #Biden, or at least try to persuade rather than scold. But it's so damn frustrating they haven't already figured out at this late date that #Trump is an existential threat.
@GottaLaff@atrupar Quite frankly this entire conflict situation feels like 2016 again. Instigated by (probably) Russian propaganda to create splits in the Biden support where possible.
@GottaLaff@atrupar I'm not 100% convinced the Democratic party has really understood this fact since they never seem to speak to it directly.
The MAGAts believe that we are evil and any compromise with us is a deal with the devil. They believe it is their righteous and holy responsibility to eliminate and if possible exterminate us.
Why are we trying to compromise with them? What deal can we make exactly? They're okay to kill but only our women, children, LGBTQ people, PoC?
It's a valid point. But sometimes I think it's worth engaging with them for others to see. It's exhausting, but I think it's good when non-participating observers see that they get pushback.
(I might be flattering myself there, and maybe I just can't avoid an argument, but it might be right.)
@GottaLaff@atrupar if the "BoTh SiDeS tHe SaMe" troll is especially odious, it's an instablock. If they come across as obstinate and clueless, i'll play a little with them, then block
some people may consider my engagement silly
but i think it serves the purpose of an object lesson for everyone else reading along, that's my audience. not that i believe i can convince airhead western fools, or their creators, russian troll farm, of anything
@GottaLaff 😆 I didn't think you did. I didn't think you were referring to me. I was commenting generally about my own behavior in regards to the content of your comment. "you may consider my behavior silly" as the royal you, not you specifically. I'm calling myself silly. We cool 🙌
But clumsy wording on my part, unnecessary personalization. I'll edit my comment
@GottaLaff NFL It's because they're not intelligent enough to look up "existential", preferring the sound of their ranting/chanting the same old arguments for "burning it all down". Example on tape, look up Susan Sarandon in interviews before the 2016 election saying (paraphrase) "what the hell, let's see what happens if we burn it all down". Idiots.
I want to hear what republican leaders, like Graham and McConnell, have to say in light of Trump's interview with Time magazine. Of course, they'll duck the question by saying, "I haven't read it", and walk away to an elevator as fast as they can, but they all need to be pressed on it constantly until they give an answer on how they can justify voting for Trump in light of this.
@GottaLaff
Oh, I know. In the past, they'd try to downplay it as "he was just joking" or "he doesn't really mean it, it's just hyperbole" on his more general campaign rants. This is different. This is quite specific on destroying democracy and becoming an autocrat. I want to hear what they have to say in justifying it.
@GottaLaff
Yes, I've heard them say that, then I'm screaming at the tv, "WHAT POLICIES?! The ones that have the economy thriving and unemployment at an all-time low, and the infrastructure bill that you voted against but take credit for the money coming in to your state?"
Reporters NEVER follow up with making be specific.
@GottaLaff@Wileymiller
It's time to stop asking people like Graham and McConnell to gaslight about Trump and assume the worst about them.
Instead of, "What's your thought about the recent Trump interview?" ask, "As someone who endorses Trump's threats against democracy, [please defend his latest insane bullshit."
