We are not bound to any oaths as realtors are regarding discrimination. My Recent airport experince vaildates this.

Not surprised, I guess, but WTF is the matter with people? I'm always amazed that people will claim the privilege to hate for religious reasons, but never seem to claim the privilege to love.

Agreed. I like discriminating against people based on what they believe, and people who believe it's cool to mistreat others on the basis of their own religion (read: ignorance) are eminently discriminable.

But we can and must still vote. We'll get that law back.
My silver lining is that so many bigots are dumb enough to reveal themselves boldly.
I truly believe that people of good conscience outnumber the bigots. We are quieter. I want us to have good memories too and not let those bigots crawl back under a rock and pretend otherwise, when we are finally able to turn the tide.

@StillIRise1963 Here in South Africa bigotry is a crime punishable by up to eight years in prison. We have Human Rights & Equality Courts that prosecute bigots who are racist, sexist, transphobic or homophobic. Human rights are entrenched in our Constitution. Hate speech is an assault on someone's person, it is a crime. I am gobsmacked that it is legal in the USA, smh
@SimoneM_65 That's very nice to hear. In college, we had sit-ins to force divestment from all companies/industries that supported apartheid. Meanwhile, it's a shitshow over here.

@LinuxAndYarn@StillIRise1963 I must be honest, we're not perfect. There's still a lot of subtle white racism. It's just coded now, they've learned to code their racism. They keep it just subtle enough so you can't bring a case with the HRC.
We had it tamped down to that in most states here, too, until the last few elections brought all the nazis screaming out of the woodwork, with paths laid out before them by the federalist society's 40-year plan to destroy the court system's recognition of civil rights.
@Lstn2urmama Not in my country :) We are fully aware of our rights and exercise them frequently. It's hard to explain, we see things completely differently, discrimination or bigotry is not the norm and is swiftly punished. See the case of Penny Sparrow, she went on the run after posting a racist tweet, there was a nationwide manhunt for her until the police hunted her down and dragged her racist ass off to jail. That's democracy baby :P
@Nonya_Bidniss The Truth and Reconciliation Commission had a big part in that. Forgiving the people who showed remorse for their part in committing crimes against humanity allowed us to move on as a nation. That's why we are called the Rainbow Nation :)

@StillIRise1963 The owner says she doesn't want to be forced to use people's pronouns. Who addresses another in the third person when that individual is right in front of you? And if you're afraid of saying something wrong, use the person's name, e.g., "Susan's purse is on that table." But she's not afraid of hurting feelings. I've always said religion and sincerely held beliefs were backdoor ways to revive Jim Crow. And here we are.

@StillIRise1963 Traverse City isn't exactly podunk nowhere. It's a resort town that's become a lot more gay-friendly in recent decades. The question is, will the local cis gays stand with their trans compatriots against this woman, or will they throw trans folk under the bus. (I suspect that the salon owner is homophobic as well as transphobic, but can't afford to lose the clients, so she's trying out a little bigotry to see how it goes.)

There are still plenty of right wing businesses here, but there have also been a few that very publicly supported right wing causes and were out of business within weeks or days.
