Everyone racing to claim the MCU is dead because of The Marvels is ignoring the fact that Marvel did next to 0 marketing during the actor's strike but still decided to launch the movie on schedule.

barcus,

@kreig After delaying it from its original Summer release (before the SAG strike):

...The Marvels was slated for a July 2022 release before being moved back to November that year, then February 2023, and finally, the July 2023 slot it previously occupied before its current November date.

Oi Rishi, you’re too weak to sack Suella so do yourself a favour, call an election, let the people bin both of you, and sod off to America. Before you can say non-dom you’ll be Elon Musk’s answer to Nick Clegg. What a thought.

barcus,

@CountBinface Please, no... we're full up with fascists over here in America. I'm sure he'd be welcome in Russia.

the obvious answer is unfettered access to weapons capable of mass murder for any american because of a bad faith reading of a 250yo law about muskets from a new country without a standing army

barcus,

@mathowie I'm still not convinced it was actually about "muskets". The term "firearms" was in use to describe firearms since the late-1600s at least(from what I was able to find) in both England and the American Colonies. The founders chose "arms" which, being short for "armaments", would be inclusive of melee weapons.

I don't think the 2nd Amendment explicitly/exclusively covers firearms because there was a term known to them for them to use if that had been there intent.

Maybe it's me, or maybe I've been taking notes every time Nancy Pelosi hails the import of math.

But if NONE of these candidates has ever been able to get 217 people TO VOTE for a candidate in the running in private, it seems unlikely you're going to get 217 to vote in public.

@GottaLaff @emptywheel Apparently the real reason why Republicans are against Ranked Choice Voting is because they don't know how to use it...

    “This should be decided at the ballot box” is such an utterly deranged thing to say when the reason why we are in this situation is that Trump and his enablers didn’t respect the decision at the ballot box and instead engaged in a vast conspiracy to end constitutional government.

    @realTuckFrumper Whenever I hear Republicans talk about being 'moderate" or "willing to compromise " I always think of this. The majority of Dems are basically center or center-right and the GOP is full-blown fascist, having moved so far to the right in the past 30years.

    A Stitch in Time, written by none other than Andrew Robinson himself, is now available for purchase on Audible and narrated by Robinson as Garak.

    The book is based on a set of journal entries Robinson penned as a way to further explore his character during his time on the set of Deep Space Nine. https://www.audible.com/pd/A-Stitch-in-Time-Audiobook/B0C8VHYFJ5

    They'll apparently be publishing a new episode every two weeks. And is in it, voicing Drummer! I can't not buy this 😁

    The in-game character doesn't reeeeally perfectly look like her… but maybe that won't be an issue. I'm excited to be back in the Expanse universe :)

    barcus,

    @scy I loved it!

    I hate that it's an EPIC-exclusive on PC, but I thoroughly enjoyed it, and can't wait for more.

    So awesome getting to play in that universe and I hope there are multiple seasons and it doesn't just end (like their GoT attempt, which I also thoroughly enjoyed).

    I also appreciated how they combined multiple characters (Sam, Michio Pa, and Bull) from the books into Cara Gee's Drummer, and she did such an incredible job that I felt she did justice to them all.

    barcus,

    @juddlegum it's hard to come up with things in the moment, but the immediate follow up where that clip ended should have been something like this:

    • Do you think that this mass shooting in Texas was a bad/terrible thing?
      Elon: Yes. Of course.
    • Why are you concerned with a bad/terrible thing being attributed to White Supremacy?
      Elon: That's not what I'm saying...{insert nonsense}
    • You still sound like you're defending white supremacy. Do you believe Whites are superior to non-whites?

    At the 1978 Science Fiction Film Awards, William Shatner provided one of the most unique covers of a pop song, certainly in a sci-fi convention, but maybe at any convention, or anywhere.

    Over the years, Shatner has weirdly denied it happened, but it did, and Flemishdog found a U-MATIC videotape with an unaltered, high-quality version of Shatner's "Rocket Man". And here it is.
