peopleproblems,

Do they even give people valium anymore? I mean for like anything other than colonoscopies?

WarmSoda,

Detoxes use Valium so people don’t go into shock.

LetKCater2U,

I was prescribed some when I got lasik about 6 or 7 years ago.

neurospice,

In Australia GPs prescribe it for anxiety. This was at least a year ago, not sure about now.

peopleproblems,

Man I’ll tell you, if I popped a Valium for my panic attacks my life would probably fall apart

I haven’t seen it in the wild since I was 20 and that was a long time ago. Pretty great day tho 👍

Regardless, this is a great scene.

xyguy,

I swear to Kahless you are watching DS9 at the exact same pace as I am. Every time I see a watch an episode I see a meme from you the next day from it. It’s crazy!

Zoop,

Oh, I love when that happens!! It’s so fun and kind of wild. The world is so big, yet so small. It boggles my little mind.

Blackout,
Blackout avatar

It's so random too, sometimes I watch 4 episodes in a row, then Kai Winn appears and I need a break

Fades,

Kai episode = take a break or skip

xyguy,

Haha that’s kind of been my cadence too. I had to take a break after the episode where Kai WInn became the pope and the president at the same time. Shes just too much sometimes.

Just so we can sync up, I am on the episode where Gul Dukat and Kira go on an expedition to find the lost prisoner ship. Haha.

nublug,

counterpoint: the closeups are meant to be seen as simultaneous, it’s a sort of psuedo slo-mo so you can see each character’s reaction in a fast situation.

Snowcano,

Precisely, the grammar of cinema is not 1:1 with real life.

That said, I don’t mind making light of it for meme chuckles.

They have a lot of time to fill in these episodes so I don't blame them. I like the scenes just for atmosphere, but making fun of them is so easy.

tias, (edited )

I see a potential here for the long-winded reaction scenes from Indian soap operas. At least then the viewer clearly understands that it’s not meant to be real time.

EmpathicVagrant,

Always sad when things won’t load here but commenting for engagement.

Sorry, I literally tried everything to get this to work properly. My 1.8mb mp4 was inflated by giphy to 14mb. Too bad we can’t just use imgur links.

Cadets! This axiom may one day save your life: Phase first, ask questions later.

Is it an impostor? A clone or a hologram? Is it a chair or is it Odo? Too many questions! Now you’re on your way to being composted into Ketracel.

Phase first, cadet! Phase like Tendi scans. Do not hesitate to phase out the answers to your questions. If a visiting Klingon does not remark, “There seem to be a lot of phaser scars on this station” you have not been phasing appropriately!

Do not wait for them to escape into a jefferies tube or Engineering. Phase them!

We have stun settings for a reason, people! Phase each other, play tag. But for Koala’s sake, do not hesitate to fire. Our lives depend upon your itchy trigger fingers.

Sir, what if it’s Captain Sisko? Do I still phase first? I don’t really want to have to answer his questions afterwards, I’ve heard what happens.

LongbottomLeaf,

Garak voice: Especially the Sisko.

They’re his orders in the first place.

Stun settings?

someguy3,

But you don’t know who’s the changling. He could be pretending to be a locked up Bashir to get them to shoot the real one. (Were they on stun settings? Would that work?)

zagaberoo,

At least aiming their phasers while they were unsure would have given them a chance to react once the changeling transformed.

PhobosAnomaly,

I mean, rule #1 of firearm safety is not to point the loud end at something you don’t want to kill, certainly not a colleague… not sure what they teach on day one of Phaser School but I suspect it’s not too far off!

zagaberoo,

Of course, but when you don’t know who is a deadly foe, there’s a bit more subtlety than having to be defenseless because you aren’t certain. The risks can never be reduced to zero, and the safety of you and your team can’t be ignored.

someguy3,

Certainly not the fucking medic.

Ageroth,

I bet the first thing they teach you is to set the phasers to stun

Blackout,
@Blackout@startrek.website avatar

Just shoot them all first and let Glob sort it out

throw4w4y5,

did you see what that phaser did to the wall behind it? nah dog that’s not stun mode 🤣

LOL, thank you so much, that has always bothered me.

Son_of_dad,

But they reacted only when he changed, which makes sense

Lydia_K,
@Lydia_K@startrek.website avatar

Just point the weapon at the one who’s not already confined.

nxdefiant,

Sisko went from unsure to sure real quick. Ex freedom fighter gunslinger lady was day dreaming.
