today was my late end of #30daysofbiking, added on to the april event because I literally forgot a day while working on my northshore bike map xD
anyway that's 30 days even across 31 and it was a pretty good one, 21 miles with a few buns (I posted the best picture) even if there was also what might be a stolen bike. but!
now i'm wondering how it'll affect my biking in future if at all.
started today with last-second bike switch because a tiny piece of broken glass was in the tire of the tandem project (that hasn't been upgraded to new tougher stuff yet). Every time this happens I'm convinced the glass bottle deposit should go up by $1000.10 😡 #pdxBikes#BikeTooter
#30daysOfBiking past so much free parking on stolen land, empty churches with empty parking lots, drivers without the requisite number of headlights or license plates unable to stay off of the painted lines, some living in their cars, full parking lots at bars, signs proclaiming "we believe... support isreal in this fight", and a storm drain / flooded bike lane from March is clogged again (new report number 2803666.) Screeching brake rotor and a rusting chain, thanks to last Thursday's rain.
Standard Saturday farmers market ride with a twist, as a marathon basically blocked off all roads to our neighborhood this morning. Actually, it was no big deal on a bike. It’s only a mess getting in/out in a car. All we had to do was pause for a few minutes to cheer on runners & watch out for drivers who had to go off of main routes and were lost and in a hurry. Welcome to the April 26th BikeNite! Thanks for joining, and I hope we all enjoy chatting about cycle stuff! Feel free to answer whenever at your convenience. Anyone can join, now or later. Reply to what you like, and boost for visibility.
We'll start out with our introduction:
Q1. Where are you posting from today? Have you experienced or thought about any cycle-related milestones lately? Past, present, or future. Number of trips, distance, location, type of ride, etc?
@ascentale#BikeNite A1: Posting from Lauchringen, Germany, where this weekend the #SPEZI (trade fair for bicycles beyond the "diamond frame standard") takes place.
Last weekend I took part in my first #slowUp mass bicycle tour (https://slowup.ch/) with thousands of other people.
On Wed. I will have likely successfuly completed my #30DaysOfBiking: Sat+Sun will be easy as I'll ride to SPEZI. And Tue. will be a normal commute to the office. Mon. might get a round around the block.
For anyone who wonders if e-biking is beneficial to your health, this is a graph of my VO2max. Guess when I bought my e-bike and started riding it to work. #BikeTooter#ebike#cycling#30daysofbiking
Technically you have to put your toe in with the sharks for this to have been a violation on the #drivers' part. Pedestrians are also technically within their rights to signal their intent to cross by deploying a spike strip ("including but not limited to cane, crutch or bicycle.")
People who honk at other #drivers need to realize that they are not doling out justice, just being rude to everyone around them, like loudly farting in an elevator but intentionally. Maybe if they got a ticket in the mail for $165 (ORS 815.225)
Took the third-wheeled cargo carrier out for a little ride and uh
wow that's loud :(
Didn't think about that. The wheel attaching to the bin directly means it acts like a drumhead and it's REALLY loud.
I mean it's not damages your hearing loud but EVERYONE hears you
considering idk maybe a hinge to keep it off the ground when not loaded or maybe just angling it so it's only low to the ground on heavier weights. dunno.
on the plus side, it works fine, handles turns, generally good.
