today was my late end of , added on to the april event because I literally forgot a day while working on my northshore bike map xD

anyway that's 30 days even across 31 and it was a pretty good one, 21 miles with a few buns (I posted the best picture) even if there was also what might be a stolen bike. but!

now i'm wondering how it'll affect my biking in future if at all.

day number thirty...

What an excellent way to wrap the 30 days. Weather started out great, and by the end was epic.

I don't want to say that those of you that are in the missed out - really I don't... but you totally did. 😈

The image shows a circular pizza, torn into four separate pieces, resting on a paper-lined tray. The light beige paper features decorative leaf patterns that are the Pryes brewing logo. The crust is golden sunburst in color, while the toppings consist of a scarlet tomato sauce base, topped with scattered wisps of ivory-hued cheese shreds and crumbled nuggets of bronzed meat along with something that is considered Japanese slaw. A solitary white napkin can be seen beside the torn pizza slices on the wooden surface beneath the tray.
The image shows two glasses filled with golden-colored beer on a wooden table. In the background, there are blurred figures of people, likely at an outdoor patio area with parked cars visible further back. A red bicycle helmet, dark purple bicycle helmet, and a black backpack can be seen behind, suggesting the context
The image depicts the indoor space of Pryes brewing. It is an industrial-chic aesthetic with the ceiling is adorned with exposed black steel beams and numerous pendant lights casting a warm glow. The walls on the left of the images are a mixture of pale cream and charcoal panels flank on the right of the image. A game area can be seen along the left of the image, with it's "floor" covered in a verdant green carpeting that extends down a central aisle. Toward the back and on the right, there is a bar area with stools, and various seating arrangements are visible, occupied by many patrons seeking shelter from the pouring rain outside. The overall ambiance conveys a trendy, urban vibe, combining raw materials like wood and metal with soft lighting to create an inviting atmosphere for dining and socializing.

past so much free parking on stolen land, empty churches with empty parking lots, drivers without the requisite number of headlights or license plates unable to stay off of the painted lines, some living in their cars, full parking lots at bars, signs proclaiming "we believe... support isreal in this fight", and a storm drain / flooded bike lane from March is clogged again (new report number 2803666.) Screeching brake rotor and a rusting chain, thanks to last Thursday's rain.

Standard Saturday farmers market ride with a twist, as a marathon basically blocked off all roads to our neighborhood this morning. Actually, it was no big deal on a bike. It’s only a mess getting in/out in a car. All we had to do was pause for a few minutes to cheer on runners & watch out for drivers who had to go off of main routes and were lost and in a hurry. For anyone who wonders if e-biking is beneficial to your health, this is a graph of my VO2max. Guess when I bought my e-bike and started riding it to work.

Technically you have to put your toe in with the sharks for this to have been a violation on the ' part. Pedestrians are also technically within their rights to signal their intent to cross by deploying a spike strip ("including but not limited to cane, crutch or bicycle.")

Took the third-wheeled cargo carrier out for a little ride and uh

wow that's loud :(

Didn't think about that. The wheel attaching to the bin directly means it acts like a drumhead and it's REALLY loud.

I mean it's not damages your hearing loud but EVERYONE hears you

considering idk maybe a hinge to keep it off the ground when not loaded or maybe just angling it so it's only low to the ground on heavier weights. dunno.

on the plus side, it works fine, handles turns, generally good.

Everyone who walks or bikes to the grocery store is paying for this structure that drivers get for free. Basically the opposite of a .

, Day 21: Took part in the mass bicycle tour (https://slowup.ch/ticino/) with the . I rode 52.4km according to the Garmin GPS. Officially it's a 50km round course between and . Took me 4h45min including all breaks. Needed the e-assist more often than expected due partially hefty wind. It had around 15 degrees C, though. So temperature-wise it was a comfortable ride. There were surely several thousand cyclists taking part in the event.

A fenced garden full of parked bicycles.
Shop window of a bicycle shop named "Cicli Rivolta" with two guitars made out of bicycle parts, mostly chainrings.
Many cyclists on a residential main street using up all the width of the street in on direction. One person on inline skates and a dog on a leash between them.

Short, moonlit ride up the hill to charge the e-bike a bit got home just in time to rescue 10yo from a spider that was "literally" as big as her hand (if her hand was 1.5in across.) Sadly, was coerced into driving for over an hour today by the state highway dept and their drivers.

@xtaran wonders about campaigns designed to boost cycling:

Q4. Given campaigns like , (this is happening right now!) or : Which type of campaign motivates you most? Are you more looking for "as often as possible" (e.g. at least once per day, outbrave any weather) or more at the distance ("see how "much you cycle get within some period")? Maybe regular group rides similar to a ? Or something completely different?

carried partner and kid home from after-school errands on the xtracycle. Really should be taking the tandem+trailerbike as better able to carry them both but partner doesn't like the forced pedaling of being chained to my crank. 10yo kid prefers the supercargo, like an absolute princess, but I don't have a great rear seat (footrests) arrangement for partner on that. 🤔 Maybe there's a madsen with electric stoker treadles in my future. Or xtracycle the edgerunner...

day number fourteen

All the errands had been run, no provisions were needed, and plenty of life support was on hand (coffee), so I wandered... and ended up at the Saint Paul water tower.

I'm a transplant to Minnesota with no idea what the deal was with this structure, so in looking it up I found out about this cool site https://www.mnopedia.org/

While very interesting, as predicted, the actual history did not measure to my imagined history.

today I went for a ride around to see how police direct traffic when somebody biffs their garbage truck's hydraulic oil all over an arterial connector. Apparently they only have two cops and no signage to work with, this probably needs some PBOT () staff involved.
