A #3Dprinter with a 4mm a side working volume means a cramped workspace. I've been holding the glass beds in place with blue tape, which has its own issues. So here's my fix for that, a teeny weeny clamp.
I've had so many issues with my Anycubic resin 3d printer, and for this and other reasons, have been considering an FDM/filament printer.
Is it fair to say that most printers in the $150-300 range are crap? I just saw on one of her LED necklace tutorials that @geekmomprojects uses the Prusa MINI+, and it seems like a good number of makers speak highly of that brand, so maybe that's where I'll look. But any tips on where else to look/stay away from are appreciated! #3dprinting#3dprinter#FDM
Last week my #VIC20, my first computer and still one of my favourite retrocomputers fell on the floor from a shelf. The 40-year old ABS case is brittle and broke right on top of the user and cassette ports. The Run Stop key also fell off 😩 #retrocomputing#repair#thread#commodore
I'm now using my #3Dprinter to obtain a compatible plunger for the broken key. I tried to glue it back but the repair was not strong enough as one piece of the puzzle was lost.
Firing up the ole' FDM printer today to try printing one of these #Lucky13 figurines out! Using PLA since that's all I have at the moment. Perhaps Amazon can deliver me some PETG later.
Anyone else's #prusa#3dprinter go into thermal runaway if the room gets too cold? My one starts emitting alarm tones with all fans flat out if the room gets down to 10°
My main reason for getting into #3DPrinting was to print the #WarcraftRumble minis. I started with an FDM printer and had so so results. This past weekend we got a resin printer and the results have been much much better. 😍
I still need to do a little sanding on the support "bumps" but I am so impressed with how well it looks.
My primary #3Dprinter died in the middle of a big multi-print session. Had it all apart yesterday to see the remedial work I did on the hot end last year isn't cutting it anymore.
Part I need is a new PTFE heatsink throat liner, but it's an OD of about 3.5 - 3.8mm (depending on which calipers I believe) which doesn't seem to be sold anywhere. 3mm is prob too small and 4mm (of which I have plenty) is too big.
Ordered some 3mm overnight anyway. Will try it today.
I received the connector bits I needed for the #3Dprinter repair over the weekend, and so connected my rebuilt hot-end this morning with good results.
Doing test prints now. Prob not a great idea to also be trying to dial in a new filament at the same time, but here we are. Assuming any probs are filament-based and not the new hardware.
Almost there. Had a sudden delamination in the middle of an otherwise pristine test piece. A try with a slightly hotter nozzle is underway.
The first six #RedHat cookie cutters are printed. Many more to come :) Now to get some ingredients and food Color to actually make and bake the cookies :)
I finally gave in and ordered 200 small but strong magnets to up my 3D printing game to cool gadgets that can open and close with the power of invisible attraction :)
Things people with #3DPrinters do instead of having fun outside :)
Printing and analysing temperature towers to have good print parameters per spool. It’s still annoying that you have to generate spool specific gcode or manually fiddle with the temperature while printing instead of telling the printer “I am using spool #3, that’s the orange PLA with 215°C for the first layer and 205°C for all other layers, as you know”.
is there someone you truly hate? do they have small children?
if you answered ‘yes’ to both of those questions, use your 3d printer to create several recorder flutes and give them to their children as gifts! the kids will love you and your message will be received
