I've never seen this before: the history of the #BeeGees, in #furry art, believe it or not. Available only through a mail order form inside copies of their 1979 Greatest Hits comp.
Book 19, 2024: Bee Gees: Children of the World, by Bob Stanley. The St Etienne musician’s compelling biography of the Gibb brothers is a marvellous read. Concentrating more on the music than the gossip, this book has made me realise how many gaps there are in my knowledge of the band. I’ve spent the past couple of weeks exploring deep cuts -Kilburn Towers is amazing. And I’ve listened to Lulu more in the past couple of days than in my life, probably.
You may think you know the Bee Gees but this will make you go deeper into their work, and you’ll be marvellously entertained along the way, thanks to Bob’s knowledge and opinions.
Right, I’m off to hunt out some unreleased Robin bootlegs on YouTube…
"Tragedy" is a song released by the #BeeGees, written by #BarryRobinAndMauriceGibb, included on their 1979 album #SpiritsHavingFlown. The single reached number one in the #UK in February 1979 and repeated the feat the following month on the US Billboard Hot 100. In 1998, it was successfully covered by British pop group #Steps, whose version also reached number one in the UK. https://youtu.be/MSVTOMkJdqs
1987, with Peter Powell and Gary Davies. How much did the drummer pay to get that much screen time? Where did Ali Campbell get his banjo?
"Maybe tomorrow" is UB40 at their most infuriating: there's a great song somewhere, but we're not quite hitting the mark, and it turns into muzak for yuppies in their trendy wine bars. #UB40
"You win again", The Bee Gees' unexpected - and welcome - comeback song.
They've lost none of the stagecraft. Barry does the lead vocals, he's able to track the change in camera and make it look effortless. Robin adds backing vocals, with Maurice mostly keeping to the side.
More hook-laden than a fishing shop; catchier than patrons at a fishing shop. #TOTP#BeeGees
E i corsi polifonici appena partiti.
It is for all the people that cannot be with a loved one because they are in different places right now.
And a special dedication for the one that makes you feel "home is where the heart is."
If you have found them, hold on tight. If not, may you find them soon.
HAVE A GREAT FRIDAY!
Featuring 'Baker Street' and 'Right Down the Line'.
On this day 45 years ago the album 'City to City' by #GerryRafferty hit #1 on the U.S. Billboard album chart. It took over from 'Saturday Night Fever' by the #BeeGees.

Of tellin' you everything
I could never say before"
