I got a new keytar as a gift yesterday. It's a MIDI controller only. I want to play this thing in band, but don't know what to connect it to. What's your favorite softsynth for playing live? Name presets, if you use them. Mostly classic rock. I prefer poly -- I can't keep myself from playing chords, even in lead lines. MacOS or maybe iPad.

Thank you.

@kbob @synths not a soft synth, but would work well with a keytar: a Behringer Deepmind12D desktop module.

It is flexible enough to do pretty much any sound you would need. More reliable than software on a laptop and plenty of polyphony.

I use it alongside legendary synths like the Roland D50, Roland Super JX10 and Yamaha SY77 and it fits in.

Now Behringer is hitting the plugin market?

Behringer Vintage, free analog modeling Synthesizer and Uli’s first synth plugin

Behringer Vintage is available now as a free download. It runs as a VST3 and AU plugin on macOS (native Apple Silicon + Intel) and Windows. You need to press on the website “get a free license” and register with the Musictribe community.

Hello,

That sounds amazing, even just using the microphone of my phone.

Been wanting a Solina string ensemble since the previous millennium. Now 2023 and I finally have a clone of it, from Behringer. Just got it a few minutes ago and it is already feeding my creativity. Groovy 70s

You've heard this on Pink Floyd's Shine on you crazy diamond. Air's Moon Safari album is full of it too.

Showing the front of the Solina string ensemble, but mostly it is for the sound, quite unique

On 38, (or ?) randomly stops outputting sound (to my USB DAC) frequently enough (once a week or so?) that I now have to put this in my workstation's ~/.bashrc because I'll never remember this type of magic incantation:

alias restart_pipewire="systemctl --user restart wireplumber pipewire pipewire-pulse"

Now that all the new (to me) gear is here and fully tested, it's time to prepare the studio...

Maybe I'll give them some privacy to become more intimately aquatinted.

@Jyoti @composergreg @synths definitely saves time and a mess of wires. I really would like to add some normalled connections for my system 100m tribute, at least mimicking the original Roland CV and gate routing and the like.

I have to say that my modulars are prettier though 😁

Könnte das was bringen?
