Changed the hardware that does the actual recording from a Raspberry pi to a Lenovo tiny. Running PVE with Debian as a virtual machine.

That got rid of a ground loop noise in the recordings.

Now to figure out a way to build these Obirdability dashboards for my data. https://obirdability.grafana.net/public-dashboards/55a2d7c587c648faab1974f55bb5e9a6?orgId=1&from=now-24h&to=now and https://obirdability.grafana.net/public-dashboards/ef30bcf2a7924847875c1accf9bdcac2?orgId=1

To deploy this yourself on a Debian machine that is running x86 architecture, check out this Github repository.

https://github.com/MatthewBCooke/BirdNET-Pi

It's a fork of the current BirdNET Pi repo, but that one only supports running on Raspberry Pi's.

I should be working right now, but I'm utterly fascinated with now that I've set up .

Now I'll be able to tell what kind of birds wake me up too early every morning. :toucan:

My BirdNet Pi is getting a workout today with the spring weather. This House Finch has things to say.

@box464 that’s not your fault! What is the project?

box464,
@box464@mastodon.social avatar

@leroy missed this somehow! I’m using this project to capture audio outside my window and then identify the bird calls.

From my install, which collects bird calls from outside my window, a road runner making their clacking sound (think raptors from Jurassic Park)

I had some time tonight to start working on this silly little project. I'm taking data from my and creating a social media timeline of the bird detections from my yard. 🐦

Using to grab data once a day to build a social media feed. 😆

Next, trying to incorporate to compose posts between the species detected to include weather, time of day, and the species identified around the same time period to make "conversations" between the species.

Crazy idea. I'm running this little app at home called . It identifies birds based on audio capture outside my window.

What if...I connected this to a CheepCheep.social fediverse instance, then had a bot create a new account for each new species. The bot would create a new post for that account every time the species was identified during the day.

A true "Twitter" network. Sorry, I had to say it.

Pretty good random test data. Hmm...

Just posted how I set up to work with . This is just part 1 and in part 2 I'll explain how I bring all the sensors (and create some new sensors) into this dashboard.

You can ignore Pirate Weather showing the incorrect temperature. 🥵

Recently I have set up . With a microphone on a , it permanently tracks the bird calls outside. This is such a great project!

Had to integrate this into my dashboard right away, of course.

@solderandchaos @makermeik @mtz doves and blackbirds are most common, with the forenoon generally getting more action.

I did a lot of projects with @Raspberry_Pi so far, but the most fascinating one is yesterdays implementation of ... flashing a fresh 64bit OS and using a 1 line CLI command for a complete set up in 45 minutes https://birdnetpi.com/

@manankanchu BirdNET-Pi is SO underrated!
