From #Chur🇨🇭westwards with the little red trains of the @rhaetischebahn: we pass the Rhine River gorge on board an #RhB ABe 4/16 “Capricorn” trainset. These modern units still come with some opening windows … and with a cab view - in case you grab a seat in the first car.
The #Bernina Express train is a scenic route over the Alps, between #Chur and #Tirano. #Chur is at roughly 500 m altitude, and the train climbs all the way to 2253 m ! The snow line was at 1000m, offering varied scenery through the panoramic windows.
Für Geschichtsnerds findet im Rätischen Museum in #Chur ab Ende Mai eine interessante Ausstellung statt: 'Marktplatz Mittelalter – Wirtschaft zwischen Alpen und Rheinfall'.
Grabungen auf dem Areal des ehemaligen Gefängnisses Sennhof in der Churer Altstadt brachten Überreste eines mittelalterlichen Handwerkerquartiers zu Tage. Zahlreiche Funde bezeugen die verschiedenen Tätigkeiten, die dort vor etwa 1000 Jahren ausgeübt wurden.
