Cool idea - - a distribution based on unstable , polished XFCE with nice minimalist wallpapers + Calamares installer. Just why don't we have it on ? Strange...

Tonight I listened to the full uncut version of episode 109 "A Plop in the Joliet".
A full 2 hours, 43 minutes, and 43 seconds of my life.
Wonderful banter and discussion by Al, Andrew, Dave, and Kevie.
They discussed recently released distros from , reviewed a game controller, and compared feed readers.
The episode contained excellent Creative Commons licensed music tracks.

Je me demande pourquoi cette distribution se trouve là où elle est 🤔
Première du classement des curiosités 😮 depuis un long moment maintenant 👍
Je pense savoir pourquoi elle plaît autant, je livre mon avis dans une prochaine publication 😉

Installing evil.... Evil successfully installed.

SO.... The last time I came up here wondering why SUSE was missing the free, basic library to work with simple, standard TAR.BZ2 archives....

... You know, the ones every binary distribution uses, including Mozilla, to distribute their releases.

The same type of archives that GitHub and GitLab release.

The same type of archive you'd likely encounter for a backup from most websites.

In other words, very, common...

Just how common is it that this free, widely used and available archive library not included by SUSE?

If you visit distrowatch.com and look at their top 100 distros, ranging from mainstream to things you've likely not heard of, they all seem to include it.

Even FreeBSD allows you to play with basic TAR.BZ2 archives.

The only exception is... SUSE.

Okay, so I've had a lot of people ask what the is. So I will make this post and pin it to my profile.

Basically, I (and any who join me) are vowing to use the same install of one distro for a single year. When something goes wrong, we fix it. No distrohopping, nothing like that. VM use and containers are allowed. This is to be done on your most used PC. Other PCs are at your discretion.

I chose @opensuse Tumbleweed as my distro.

@thelinuxcast @opensuse I'll accept your challenge because I need some accountability (and I also need to stop visiting so much because it's been like a Crack dealer for me). 🙃

Distrowatch

Ok its been years since I was last on Distrowatch, but I am surprised today that the top distro on it is called MX Linux, which I have never heard of.

So what is so good about it?

How the times have changed.
