Memberships for #DragonCon 2024 are now $115, but the price goes up to $140 this Saturday (December 16). The membership is good for all 5 days, August 29 through September 2, 2024. I'll be haunting the #Horror, #UrbanFantasy, and #Writers Tracks!
Three years ago Sharon and I committed to traveling the rest of our time together, sharing our space (and everything else) in blissful #marriage. Her sister Jenny gifted us this wonderful #DoctorWho#TARDIS picture to commemorate the occasion, which Christopher Eccleston (the Ninth Doctor) and Billie Piper (Rose Tyler) graciously autographed at recent #DragonCon appearances.
Happy #anniversary sweetie. Next stop Barcelona? (the city, not the planet)
When I was at #DragonCon this year, I was photographed by the talented Andrea Elizabeth. I just got back some photos from our session, including the first attachment here. I like it so much I edited one of the photos my wife took at the same time to look similar.
You’d think the photographer was zooming in on my #cosplay as an #UmbrellaCorporation scientist standing out among gun-toting S.T.A.R.S. police and Umbrella paramilitary.
Wrong: The spotlight is on that little vial of mutagenic T-virus. Keep an eye on it, lest everyone you see in the picture become infected #zombies.
My 10 yo did a bit of cosplay at #DragonCon and he was nervous about how his C3PO costume was going to be received. He said he thought it was too "janky" for the photoshoot we were headed to.
As we rounded the corner by the Courtland (nee Sheraton) one guy commented on how cool the costume looked. That helped buoy the kid.
When we arrived, the 501st were fist-bumping him, ribbons were offered.
Did anyone go to the #Fediverse panel on the @eff track at #DragonCon? It was Saturday night at 10pm, and I didn’t make it (alcohol might have been involved). How was it?
@ramsey I attended it & thought it was interesting. It felt like an overview & discussion of benefits & pitfalls with the opportunity for the audience to ask questions and voice opinions. I appreciated it for what it was and hope to see more in the future at #DragonCon. The hosts were joking about why we had decided to attended when the party was “out there" 😃
Fun triple-entendre:
• Stanley Kubrick directed “The Shining.”
• The story was inspired by King’s 1974 visit to the #StanleyHotel in #EstesPark, Colorado.
• And #MrsRoper’s long-suffering husband… was named Stanley.
