"Why is my Favourite Tech European Company", by Nicola Amadio (The European Engineer)

"Headquartered in Tallinn, Bolt is a ride-hailing company, competing with giants like Uber"

"Its main engineering teams were built in , and : this is a great choice, with Estonia being a great market to hire devs and Romania and Poland possibly being among the very best nations worldwide for hiring quality tech talent at a reasonable price"

The largest company in the Netherlands threatens to leave the country in protest against anti-migration policies.

ASML is the "only one in the world that builds machines for the most advanced semiconductors"

"It is now Europe's most valuable tech company, a growth that would not have been possible without its many foreign skilled workers."

Migration=Value.

I'm looking for a European alternative to

What I like from Substack is that it's a community of writers, really focused on providing tools for them. It's a precious attitude.

But I don't want to be there with the disseminators of hate.

For now, I've found https://www.kessel.media/

French, writer-oriented, doesn't allow sexism, racism, homophobia, hate speech. Let's see more of it.

Are you aware of other options?

Germany teams up with Baltic states in EU digital reform push

Germany, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are set to approach the Commission with a proposal to reform EU digital policy, with Berlin hoping to benefit from the expertise of the Baltic states who, in turn, want to capitalise on Germany’s clout.

@eunews Something I miss in the nine-point plan proposed by Germany and the Baltics is support for the development of European tech.

It's as if they want the EU to maximise the advantages of using someone else's software.

Let's promote EU native software as well.

This could include the European cloud, rather than having Amazon operate EU-only clouds.

Judita reads about the EU “Digital Services Act" definition of some online platforms as “gatekeepers”

“One more word of slang. As a user, do I need all this regulation?”

She closed on her phone, turned to her laptop, opened 3 tabs: for , and . She received a video link, and opened . Her account blipped

She stopped for a second. She had just used 7 of the 11 apps...

Also, three areas in which European products might need a push:

THE SEARCH - Ecosia, a non-profit, green corp. Every 50 searches, they plant a tree. Uses Bing engine.

THE BROWSER - @Vivaldi a Norwegian competitor of Google. Selling point: "we don't track you"

THE CLOUD - OVH and Hetzner offer virtual servers, but still go short on cloud native services
