An excerpt from an email I just sent: “By the way, Aristotle’s POETICS is absolutely NOT an easy read, so when you hear Crag Mazin [a pretty successful Hollywood writer] say that, just know he’s lying to you! … unless you are already an expert on Ancient Greek society, dithyrambic poetry, and music of the lyre. Then it’s a breeze.” #Writing#ScreenWriting#Filmmaking
A friend who works for one of the big studios just sent me a screen capture of his bank balance after getting his paycheck direct deposit. The accidentally paid him 19 million dollars. This just happened. I am still laughing.
The easy freedom of this medium allowed the artist to range over subjects as diverse as Tarot, male nudes at Fire Island and a friend’s flat – and offer clues to his more public feature films...
May's meeting is Sunday! @theconsultant will be talking about Zotero, @WTL will discuss software tools used during his recent adventure in feature #FilmMaking, then we'll indulge in some Apple event speculation, along with the usual questions and answers.
Thursday:
101 seconds of plank
11 minutes of yoga for runners (#AppleFitness)
20 minutes of strength training
30 minutes of HIIT
6.4 km of #walking (10°C, 11km/hr wind)
…a few hours later, 6 km of #cycling for a #Filmmaking meeting to go over some stuff from the shoot.
Pretty pleased this morning, after all the workouts, got the walking speed under 9 minutes per KM, so that made me happy at least. Knee still seems to be okay. 🤔
Can also confirm that I still do not like burpees (in HIIT). 🤣
If you need to quickly visualise some scenes for a video to give your client / crew an idea of what you’re trying to achieve with your shoot, this GPT should help.
By default, all images are created in 16:9 with a realistic art style. If you have any suggestions for improvements, please let me know!
Careers Week at the kids school. A deeply humbling experience, having to answer, "Did you make the Avengers? Do you work for Disney? Do you know Jack Black? Did you make Spiderman?" 🤣
Lionsgate is to reboot the "Blair Witch" franchise — without the participation of the original team, who were also not involved in Joe Berlinger’s 2000 sequel and Adam Wingard’s 2016 follow-up. “Neither one of the sequels connected with audiences the way they wanted it to connect. And so it might at least be worth talking to some of the original creators,” production designer Ben Rock told the Hollywood Reporter. Other members of the original team have been speaking out online, including Joshua Leonard, one of the lead actors. "At this point, it’s 25 years of disrespect from the folks who’ve pocketed the lion’s share (pun intended) of the profits from OUR work, and that feels both icky and classless,” he wrote on Instagram.
"Generative extend" is a fantastic example of actually useful AI feature. We've all been there with shots that we need to hold for just a liiiittle bit longer but can't. Now we should be able to. #editing#filmmaking
Pre-production is underway for our upcoming short, a very modernised adaptation of Ernest Hemingway's "A Pursuit Race," and we're thrilled to be working with the ever-amazing Brittany Gallasch! We can't wait to show you what we have in store ✨
Eleanor Coppola, the filmmaker behind "Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse" and "Paris Can Wait," writer, memoirist, wife of Francis Ford Coppola and mother of Gian-Carlo, Roman and Sofia, has died at age 87. Here's AP's tribute to the matriarch of one of the world's greatest filmmaking families. “I don’t know what the family has given except I hope they’ve set an example of a family encouraging each other in their creative process whatever it may be,” Eleanor told The Associated Press in 2017.
