It's a glitchy, experimental trio for flute, clarinet, and MIDI keyboard/Max. There are Morse code and other ham radio samples, electric piano, and bowed cardboard box, and it's surprisingly groovy.
Does anyone know of a decent #cello or #violin#midi#controller? So far I have only found so-called silent cellos/violins with built-in, synthesized and amplified sound engines. But I'd really be more interested in a pure #strings MIDI controller. The same goes for the #flute. If there's something well-built and reliable in that area, I'd be interested as well. 🤓️
OK, it's official. I am playing flute and saxophone with Una Canción Bonita at Cuatro Gato for South by Southwest, Tuesday, March 12, at 8:00 PM. Still pinching myself... #music#saxophone#flute#sxsw
This Sunday, Selene (Ambaran) and I will play Japanese sea musics on flutes & harps in the manga studio of "Keep In Mind" by Kim Houtzager in Nieuwegein.
Supported by @japanfans & the Japans Cultureel Centrum Utrecht, with artwork by Selene, by Kim and by BudoGirl. 😉
Two replicas next to each other of the Divje Babe artefact, possibly the oldest #flute. The left one is ceramic (which I received today), the right one plastic. The plastic one is based on measurements/images in The Origins of Music (MIT Press, 1999), whereas the clay one is based on later research and 100s of reconstructions in wood, bone (mostly brown bear), and eventually clay.
The ceramic one is nicer to hold and play, with a louder and cleaner sound. #History#Archaeomusicology#Prehistory
Tonight my spirits were lifted at my teen’s high school #music department Fall Preview Concert. My son plays #flute in the Wind Symphony #band; he’s the tall redhead at center front. #joy
A photograph of the inside of a splendid Geminhardt Elkhardt Alto Flute.
This shot is the result of combining 960 individual images. This offers an unparalleled insight into the instrument, revealing the intricate details of its craftsmanship, the delicate fibers of the pads, and the traces left by years of meticulous cleaning.
I’ve been doing a deep dive into the music of one of my musical hero’s, Tom Scott https://www.tomscottmusic.com his tenor tone from the 70s is so distinctive. On solo on Black Cow by Steely Dan, use of effects on Gotcha!. His lyricon playing, and then later playing on Yamaha wx #ewi instruments. The melodic solos. And his fucking fabulous flute solo on Patrick Williams song Threshold. Such a great player. #jazz#sax@saxophone@flute#flute
