#VIvaALiberdade#25DeAbrilSempreFascismoNuncaMais #25DeAbril
Day 2 of attempting to daily drive postmarketOS Linux on a OnePlus 6T:
At the moment, I'm still carrying an Android phone which provides a wifi hotspot.
The most important things have been established: Fediverse access (via Tuba) and messaging (via Fractal). After initial problems with the repo-version of Fractal, the Flatpak version works very well. I've already been messaging my wife, family and friends from Linux.
I also successfully purchased and downloaded a public transport ticket for February.
The battery life has been very very good. I think the automatic suspend is working it's magic. However, I'm not sure if this affects notifications yet.
A bit of refinement to my trouble with #Tuba where I can't scroll the displayed timeline after I back out of zooming into an image. Turns out that if I click on the sidebar first (anywhere on it, not just one of the entries), that breaks whatever was locking the column in place and I can scroll as I please.
No idea what would cause that, but at least it's easier to deal with than my inability to attach media by the usual means.
There were some things I didn't like with the #Tuba layout, what with the title bar being crowded with pseudo-tabs meaning I couldn't just click and drag without clicking a button, and the odd absence of some options when I popped out the list.
Turns out all that stuff is fixed if I just widen the window away from the default that it comes up at when I open it. I have no idea why, since there's lots of space on the sidebar, but the extra width does the trick.
Interesting. Playing around with the #Tuba client for Mastodon, and the "add media" thing is busted. If I try to add a photo or whatever, the file choosing window tries to come up but does not display any contents, then fails after a few moments.
I also cannot drag and drop from my file browser.
The only way I can add images is to CTRL-C either from a web page or local image viewer, and then paste them into the Media tab. Which is awkward, but at least it works.
@agx
its still all a bit crazy:
since select/copy/paste between applications does not work, the workaround is to take a screenshot e.g. of #Tuba then run #TextSnatcher, then open TextEditor to paste the extracted text, so I can select what I need, then copy it to paste into Tuba to make a post.... 🤪
so even writing and testing a bash script can take hours due to missing copy/paste in terminal (which is nicely solved in sxmo btw).... but yea, kind of getting there😂
Someone just messed up with the French translation of #Tuba on #Weblate and replaced it with… well something else
Now that I've updated to the latest version of the app, I don't even know what language is used in the interface.
It's f*cking pissing me off.
I've been involved in the translation process since the very beginning of the project, that means months of work AND SOMEONE JUST SCREWED UP MY ENTIRE WORK INSTANTLY
My #HomeAssistant setup plays a little audible tuba melody over my hacked speaker system when a human figure is detected in the driveway, so garbage day is a bit like Octoberfest around here.
