So, I have talked about how I've been doing a side-by-side comparison of stats for Instagram and Pixelfed by posting the same photos on both accounts.
Well, my pics tend to fall into certain well defined categories. So, I have been sorting the photos into the following and comparing average number of likes: Cats, Food, Flowers, Manga, and Selfies.
Based on these broad categories, I noticed a few hings. More info in the following toots.
Since January 2024 - here has been the average likes per post for those categories:
Cats - 25 (Insta), 35 (Pixelfed)
Food - 17 (Insta), 8 (Pixelfed)
Flowers / Bloomscrolling - 22 (Insta), 24 (Pixelfed)
Manga - 28 (Insta), 5 (Pixelfed)
Selfies - 25 (Insta), 10 (Pixelfed)
Toys - 20 (Insta), 8 (Pixelfed)
So, a few patterns emerge. First, there is not a lot of people noticing my manga posts on Pixelfed. That's apparent.
Second, the Fediverse loves cats. More so than Instagram! Same with flowers / bloomscrolling.
Food, selfies, and toy posts tend to average about the same per post on Pixelfed. 8-10 likes on average.
On Insta, selfies, manga, and cats do best. On Pixelfed, cats, flowers, and selfies do best.
Basically, on either platform - you can't go wrong with cat pics or selfies.
Now, on Insta, part of the manga boost is that I've been kind of into Mangagram - sharing posts, interacting with posts, etc on manga. Then again, I don't see a lot of manga in general on Pixelfed. Maybe it's me!
#Manga - I also picked up It Looks Like My Son Has Been Reincarnated into Another World recently. The Manga explores the very unique way a mother handles her grief after losing her son. After getting obsessed over his LN collection, she convinced herself that her son got isekai'd and meets up with the weeb from her high school class to get help with following her son.
It's a very interesting premise with a lot of potential. So far, I've read one volume and I'll definitely continue reading it, even if I have to pick a few bones with it in the following toot...
For my long-running project of reading all Year 24 Group Manga, I recently picked up Hagio Motos "They Were Eleven" (1975). It was a fine Manga, but it's also far from my favorite from the Group or even Hagio Moto herself.
It feels like the art took a step back, compared to The Poe Clan, which seems rather sad, considering it was its strongest feature.
Aside from that, the story actually has some great aspects, a good mystery (with a somewhat lackluster reveal), interesting ideas about different cultures in space and a lot of drama. It made a fun 4 chapter read. Overall, it's not amazing, but I'd still recommend it 👌👌
Shadow Eliminators just ended this week. Another week with another series I was reading ending.
However, don't feel that bad about this one. If this series didn't end, I was about to drop it anyway. It went from a story a week with a teenager who could summon spirits to fight evil spirits, freeing them of the burden.
That said, when it started to do world building, IMO, it faltered and the world they built became unnecessarily convoluted.
Da passiert noch richtig was. Sehr viele Emotionen, Hintergrundstories, Verlauf, kleine Twists.. liebe die Welt und Charaktere! Die Entwicklung ist auch mega gut! Sehr rundes Ende. Must-Read! 💖
Millions of people worldwide consume anime every day. But how prevalent is it in Japan itself? The answer: not as much as some international fans would like to believe. Learn about actual viewership rates in our write-up below.
