New paper from our group led by @lawojcik! We found that not only trait adaptation among but also within functional groups shape ecosystem functioning in simple food webs. Models may gain to consider multiple diversity facets and their corresponding sources of trait adaptation. Read more at https://doi.org/10.1111/oik.10544.
Modo and Vray working it is all falling back into place, after a few years of not using it.
This is a model from 4 years back. #mbt3d#3D#vray#modelling#madewithmodo
I'm reading Foundation for the first time, in preparation for an upcoming review for @NerdsofaFeather , and I'm torn between 'Asimov is doing something brilliant' and 'Asimov is doing something very silly'. I really hope it's the former. I can see how it could be. But I fear it's going to end up being the latter, because in my experience reading Golden Age #SF, writing in that era doesn't tend to do the thing that needs to happen for the former.
#MeetTheArtist Day5. Wax & Clay - soft modelling. Wax was the first medium I used professionally, modelling medical prosthetics. I now more often use a soft filled wax, that softens in the hand but is quite firm at room temp. This little #wren, part of a 6” sq. low relief was modelled in 2020. Due to its impermanence any wax model has to be then moulded (in this case in silicon rubber) & then cast into the final permanent medium (in this case a resin bronze). #modelling#moulding & #casting
Since #YoMos is not on Mastodon, you will get the advertisement from me :D if you are a #Bachelor/ # Master/ #PhD level student of #ecological#modelling or you supervise any, this is perfect! You get to present your project in a conference-like setting, but your audience are your peers! Big bonus for #mathematical modelling this year: The awesome @KorinnaAllhoff will give a keynote, and I will probably give a workshop on #pattern#formation in #networks! I think I'm over COVID enough to get cracking on my research proposal and I want to start as I mean to go on - by centering critical, Black, indigenous and queer perspectives.
