What are your thoughts on self-diagnosis being belittled by many in the autistic community?
For clarity, I’m not asking to start a debate, just a genuine discussion. I currently don’t have the option to get a diagnosis, but feel fairly confident that the research I’ve done over the past year and a half has been legitimate and credible.
I don’t feel comfortable saying that I am definitively autistic, but I am ok with saying I’m “self-suspecting.” #actuallyautistic@actuallyautistic
@chevalier26@actuallyautistic sounds to me like you are trying your best not to offend officially diagnosed people, by identifying as self-suspecting. Not sure where you are, but in the UK it is difficult to get diagnosed without money for a private assessment. Self-diagnosis or (parent diagnosis, for children) is all that can be done whilst waiting four years to get to the top of the NHS waiting list for assessment #NeverVoteConservative#NeverVoteTory#toriesout
As Prof. John Curtice observes (after his latest polling), showing around 80% of likely labour voters are pro-EU:
'Labour does have to realise it will find itself back in office off the back of an electorate that is three-to-one in favour of joining the EU'.
Whether or not this means #Labour may be thinking about how to re-engage with the #EU, rejoining, of course, is not something we can just wish to happen, the EU would need to agree & that willingness is hardly a foregone conclusion!
Greens, LibDems, SNP, Plaid Cymru, Sinn Fein and so on, all do surprisingly well.
It's almost impossible to engineer. Except just possibly by grass roots tactical voting. Tactical Voting FTW! https://stopthetories.vote/ Don't vote Red Tory unless they really are most likely to beat the Blue Tory. #ATAC#NeverVoteTory
Rather than framing every article about extreme heat in the context of “breaking records,” we might describe it as a glimpse of our future. #ClimateChange
Quality statesmanship from Sunak, as ever 🙄😡
Adam Bienkov, on the dark side:
"Asked about the Conservative Party’s Tamworth candidate suggesting that unemployed parents struggling to feed their children should “fuck off”, Rishi Sunak’s spokesperson says the comments show that “unlike Labour we are a party that believes in work”." #UKPolitics#CostOfLivingCrisis
If you ever see a Daily Mail for sale, cover it up with a local paper. If you can't cover it up, turn it over. Hide today's five minute hate on the cover.
Fcking Tories fcking f*cked us. They're all Hunts. Get Them Out. We need to completely destroy them so they can never destroy us again. And all their friends, donors, media and supporters.
So, in case you missed it, Sunak takes credit for clearing the Asylum backlog, despite the fact he hasn't, and now admits to being a failure. Of course, his failure in not really his fault, of course, because nothing is.
Dear #Tory voters, or Scumbags if I may be informal, if you don't want a society filled with what you perceive as "jobsworths", then maybe don't create a society where being fired and facing unemployment is a fast track to permanent soul crushing poverty. Because if being unemployed is intolerable, people are not gonna put their jobs at risk to bend the rules for you.
