A number of overlanding creators will be launching exclusive series on the XOverland Network, which is a Netflix-like play. Curious how much they’ll be paid and whether it’ll be worth it versus “owning” (YT tho’) their own content. If XOverland Network was a proven platform like Netflix, it’d make sense, but I feel as if some of the creators have followings that won’t make the jump.

I.e. Do I need another subscription? I would rather support directly via Patreon (which I do).

With newsletter software issues, and realizing that you should own your stack anyway, here’s S3E1 of the delayed Weightshifting on my site.

G’day all,

We are Noe 🇪🇸 and Olive 🇫🇷. We have been living in Sydney for almost a decade when we decided it was time to see what Australia had to offer. We quit our jobs and packed our car to start the so-called Big Lap, a drive around the country.

We will be using this account to post updates of our journey as we discover things on our way.

We look forward to seeing you on the road ✌️

Silver Star Camping: Day 1

The area around Silver Star Mountain is incredible. I needed this trip so badly, both physically and mentally. I slept at the trailhead and got up bright and early to check out the Chinook Trail. I only learned about this trail a couple days ago. Apparently an effort to build a loop trail around Vancouver, WA and Portland, OR.

The volcano Mount Saint Helens in all her glory. A snowy mountain with a crater on top peaks out over the Central Cascades. Miles of green forest lead to the mountain. Light blue sky.
Little Baldy prominently stands in front of thick white clouds. The rocky slopes have a few patches of green trees.
A trail winds through a forest of tall trees with light gray bark.

Now that backpacking season is over, I’m thinking about giving overlanding a try. I just don’t want to be in a tent in the cold and rain.

Plan is to start with my backpacking gear and go from there. Have a 2012 Honda Pilot. I can use it as a base camp for long day hikes.

Main concern is being stuck in the middle of the forest with a dead battery. Ordered a NOCO Boost Plus battery jump starter. Will get a couple storage bins to hold gear staying in the SUV.

Reasonable?

Spotted: A heavily-modified . It has a Cummins diesel engine and a highly custom gear train. I don’t really understand what all those levers do. The owner says they provide ridiculous gear ratios for rock crawling, and independently-selectable front, rear axle power, or 4WD.

Bonus: Spot the

During my recent multi-week camping adventure, I allowed myself ONE synth.

It was the ASM Hydrasynth. Why? (I don't actually hear you ask...)

Well, it's terribly powerful and I rarely use it. Maybe I don't KNOW it well enough? What magic is lurking in those digitally aliased cracks and crevasses?

So I spent 3 weeks alone with the Hydra and this is the first thing I created with it...

For the past two years, on a lot of Sundays (so much so that it’s become ritual), I’ve been working on, modifying, and customizing our 4x4 vehicle for overland travel. As we prepare for our ninth extended trip into parts known and unknown, exploring the American West, today was a tool inventory and clean up. The next few days begins the ramp up and load out.

Two sets of sockets on socket rails upright on a drop down table on the back of a car door.
An unrolled tool roll sitting atop a drop down table on the inside of a back door of a Lexus GX470.
A Step22 Pangolin tool roll wrapped up and closed, with the authors feet standing close by.
