It's almost the end of valentine's day, and as much as I hate the commercial shit around it.
So much I do love working with @Skoop and @mvriel. thanks guys for being my heroes in the past year.
Talk to them if you see them at a conference, they won't bite I promise, but be aware! You will never forget them! 🫂
Yesterday @jrf_nl gives a great talk about PHP_CodeSniffer ( @phpcs ) at #010php
She told us the importance of funding opensource projects and there is is not enough spoken about this. It was a critical warning that there are just a few people in the community where the hole #PHP community is depending on.
So lets talk more about how to support these great opensource projects.
@itsjoshbruce that sounds great, but should we not get more organized? Exactly for this reason I'm now trying to talk to many people all over the community to find a group of people that want to help me starting an open source php collective. So we can support people like @jrf_nl. I think we have an issue in the php community, regarding a sustainable way of funding projects and initiatives.
I would love to talk with you about how we should get this done.
If you want to know what @heiglandreas thinks about having 13 months with exactly 28 days, join the next @phpugmrn meetup at the end of this month to find out.
I learned about an idea that lives in our community to start a foundation to help the community.
Yes I know we have the @thephpf, that's mainly focused on core development of php. #php is much larger than just the language, we have user groups, conferences, meetups, speakers, opensource projects and their maintainers.
Most of them operate for free, but they have expenses. speakers at php conferences do not get paid, part of their expenses are covered but not all.
The original idea was not mine, but written by @ramsey. Not sure when in which context this was. But I endorse the need to make the #phpc more sustainable.
We have a great community, with lovely people all over the place. But we are not connected by an organization that helps people that need help to visit a conference, or organize a meetup.
Opensource projects might stop because they don't have time to educate new developers.
I'm not planning anything, but I would like to hear your voice!
Eigenheiten einzelner Browser vielleicht? Immer her damit!
Wir suche für unser März-Treffen noch 1-2 Talks und eine Location - wir kommen gerne zu euch!
#phpc developers I'm looking for a library I can deploy in production that will compare the return value of one function with the return value of another and log them somewhere (ideally a dashboard) so I can make sure our changes are correct.
I am seeking speakers for my @phpugffm & @phpugmrn meetups. We prefer in-person presentations in Frankfurt or the Mannheim area, but remote talks are also an option. If you have anything interesting to share with us, let us know. We'd be more than happy to have you! Thx! #php#phpc#phpugffm#phpugmrn
