The federal agency has been under intense #criticism for months for spending millions on a program to #eradicate fallow #deer on the 9 sq km island, a portion of which is part of the #GulfIslandsNationalParkReserve, while the rest is privately owned.
#Racists in #Canada are flipping out at #ParksCanada decision to tell ugly truth about #JohnAMacDonald & not #whitewash factual #history to appease white folks who think that cruel man was a hero. He was a #genocider of Indigenous & a huge #sexist jerk. People like that don't deserve respect after death. People who put evil people like that up on heroic pedestals suffer from #racism.
Just search Parks Canada & John A MacDonald & you'll see what I'm talking about. I'm not giving racists traffic.
Nice to see that the government has amended the Canada Shipping Regulations to allow municipalities to specifically regulate wakesurfing. Previously, wakesurfing could only be regulated with wakeboarding, waterskiing, and other watersports towing.
The #RideauCanal has a wakesurfing problem, as well as a waterskiing/wakeboarding problem.
Unfortunately the #ParksCanada management of the canal is terrible and won't take concrete steps to regulate it appropriately.
This weekend is my "local" dark-sky park's annual Night Sky Celebration. #RASC#astronomy club will be doing public outreach with telescopes, binoculars etc. Hope the weather cooperates!
If you have a #DarkSkyPreserve in your neck of the woods - check them out. Most will have one or more outreach events throughout the year.
As previously described, my coyote dodging (in my own mind!) adventure netted me some nice images overlooking "Big Brook" in #ParksCanada#TerraNovaNP near #NewmanSoundCampground.
I've been told by staff that the river bend is known as the "Oxbow".
