RT @JRUrbaneNetwork: Meanwhile, in the Orient.

RT @TrainsMagazine U.S. and Canadian officials have announced a joint task force to work on zero-emission locomotives.

@capntransit this must be a fake picture since the US can't do overhead lines with double-stacked cars 🤪 "a joint research agenda to test the safe integration of emerging technologies, including hydrogen-powered and battery-electric locomotives"

What an absurd waste of city resources to grind off a lane because some NIMBY with the commissioner's phone number didn't like it. should be grinding off the yellow centerlines, which nobody was consulted on.

Between the wood smoke, exhaust of cold car engines climbing a hill, and the complete policy failure of our system's status-quo, older generations are really sticking it to the kids. Career DOT people can't figure out why we wouldn't want to give them $4B for finishing their project designs from the 1950s (to use Portland as an example) just shut it down.

has been breaking-in a fresh new commissioner (with no bureau director for 6 months...), and Mingus Mapps seems to still be focused on the stack of boondoggle carway projects has put in front of him. Seems to think that the members of the Bike + Pedestrian Advisory Committees are here to lobby for more funding for the bureau of traffic to continue the status quo of maintaining the whole transportation system for . Drivers feeling the $30M cut?

Are we just going to continue the right up to the point where kids pull that lever and ?

re: why can't have nice things: The trick is to make each "ride your bike in relatively car-free safety" event an expensive optional line-item requiring lots of money for "traffic control", but frame as unavoidable the $2M+/day we spend letting cars have free reign of the entire system for the other 362 days.

This cartoon hits hard.

It hits even harder when you notice the 2007 publication date in the lower right corner.
