One thing that you can do to make Mastodon posts much more readable/much more accessible is to put your hashtags at the end of your post.
Trying to read text which is littered with hashtags and blue hyperlinks is an accessibility nightmare. Put links at the end of your post, like this, instead!
@seldo Me, please, I want that! I want open-text #search. I hate hashtags, I think #they#affect#readability#of#text. They also require precision and consistency in hashtag choice across users, which is unrealistic across the wide array of users and topics and languages.
Every hashtag on every post on every platform should ALWAYS be pascal case (a.k.a. camel case). I made this to illustrate how screenreaders read hashtags depending on whether they are lowercase or pascal case.
It’s a small thing that all of us can do to build a more inclusive, accessible internet for all. Please take the time to use pascal case.
