I do love how ICM has given me another 'tool in my box' to play around with whenever I go out. I came here for the sunset with my sister and while it was a pretty sunset... it wasn't quite what I wanted for long exposures or 'normal' photos. I got a couple that I live of both of those but I decided to take some ICM photos as well. I do need to remember to bring my ND filter (puts filter in camera bag and comes back) with me. I have my LEE filters system but its a 10stop filter, which is way too dark for this. Luckily I kept my 'old & cheap' ND filters I had bought at the famous (in Beijing) Wukesong camera market. Man I miss that place...
Good morning. Still stormy and gross out today. Thinking of this morning on Sunday at Marine Park. Loosely titled ‘Waves of Peace’. I do love the sound of these waves in the morning.
Trying something different with my photography. Haven’t quite worked out how I’ll be doing this but wanted to try this process out. Let me know what you think? Thanks!
My favorite shot from a sunset last week here in Bellingham. Going to be releasing this and others from the past few months on my #fineartphotography website. Stay tuned!
Early bike ride to Lake Padden this morning for sunrise. Wasn't quite feeling the long exposure would do much. So I decided to snap some ICM photos in between taking photos of the fog. I mostly came to the lake to check the autumn colors and some peace. Happy to get one of those! Looking forward to finding the other soon!

As I looked at the shot I would get at eye level, it was a nice view. But it wasn’t something I’d take again. Well, except to prove a point for this post…
Staggering city and county council elections is what we do here in #BellinghamWA and #WhatcomCounty, and people claim to like it because of more institutional memory and continuity. But really, how many incumbents get booted anyway? I find that a dumb argument to be worried that the whole council might be replaced in a single year.
I've been playing around with ICM (Intentional Camera Movement) since I saw a number of photographers posting them on their feeds. I really liked how you could create textures with movement. Something about them seemed to resonate with what I was feeling when I'd take photos. I'm still in the starting stages of this but it has been fun to experiment. These images were from yesterday morning when I wasn't feeling the long exposures I was trying to make
UPDATE: my mistake, they weren't dumping fuel, they were just burning it off. That's the whole point why they had to circle for two hours, since that aircraft has no capability to dump. 🫢
There are times when its hard to believe what my eyes are seeing. I'm still not quite sure was creating this almost liquid metal feel to the water during this sunset at Marine Park, but I just loved it! I knew that the clouds above were more luminous than usual but this effect on the water was just beautiful to me.
Good morning… it’s the simple things that keep me going. I sometimes forget to make the coffee to go with me in the mornings but I feel like I’m not even gonna get out in the now chilly mornings if I don’t.
Good morning… I’ve been thinking of getting some action figures to bring along on my morning adventures but part of me wonders if the battles I’d depict are just the voices in my head fighting it out. Maybe start with my lens ball and see where I go from there (;
On this last Sunday of August, I thought I'd share some images that I've taken over the summer as I look forward to the autumn colors here in the #pnw. Can't wait to get out and take more photos here in #bellinghamwa during that time! Next planned shoot is the #supermoon this week! Already scouted the spot with @photopills app. Hopefully its not overcast/smokey.
Some #beforeandafter of a couple of my favorite images I've taken over this summer. Motivated me to go get a platypod to get even lower on some of these spots!
So, what do you do when the screw that attaches from your tripod to your tripod head drops into the tripod?
If you guessed 'curse and wonder if there is a god', that would have been my first reaction.
My second reaction was to find some rocks I could prop my camera up on to take the shot I was wanting.
I was at Lake Padden scouting the location for my #perseidsmeteorshower shoot I was going to do. So I was mostly here looking for angles and wasn't too disappointed.
I ended up not using this spot for my meteor shower shoot because I kept seeing meteors at a different angle. I ended up going to the end of the dock and shooting from there.
