#WordWeavers 2406.04 — Antagonist POV: Is it easy for you to apologize? Can you apologize to someone right now?

If I made a mistake or bumped into somebody? Of course. Many people recognize me, or take a look at me, and something between awe and stupidity sets in. I account for that. I've survived the fall of civilizations; I can be charming. What I won't apologize is for doing things I must do, whether it simply upsets you or ends up killing people you knew, and all the permutations in between. My role in this miserable life that never ends is ensuring humanity survives. Nobody apologizes to me for saddling me with that responsibility. You know what really ticks me off? Questions like this one. Sorry!

Who is your most creative character?

Definitely the minstrel, Shawmelle. She sings, plays a lute and writes her own songs. Her father was a minstrel, as well, and was the one who taught her to play.

She's also very lucky, in that one of the kingdom's squires takes a liking to her. 🙂

Another humanist antag question.

Primal forces don't apologize.

#WordWeavers 4 Antagonist POV: is it easy for you to apologize?

The ghost of King Armand:

I am the best at apologizing. I am so incredibly humble, more humble than anyone else. But I am never really wrong on anything, so it doesn't come up too often. But when I do, I express sincerity like no other, and everyone accepts it instantly. I am an expert in managing my own ego. It never gets in the way. My ego is the best ego a person could have. It is very well crafted.

Sam Beechcroft: "Apologize? Whatever for? If anyone needs to apologize, it's my daughter and her despicable lover.

"They ran away, they set up a kidnapping with a ransom demand, they tried to undermine all my plans. They got everything coming to them - and it will be my pleasure to make their lives miserable."

#WordWeavers Day 3 - Who is your most creative character?

Collectively, the opera crew in Mistella, but they won't show up for a few volumes. In the WIPs, it's arguably Franz-Karl: the factions in the Palace who tried to prevent him from receiving proper training in the use of Elderkin Gifts and Bindings may have made a serious mistake... he tends to improvise based on things mentioned in old stories. Which can be about as safe as improvising high-energy physics or the scary kinds of chemistry.

2406.03 — Who is your most creative character?

In the sense of one of my creations being uniquely different? I have one who character who interacts with the spirits of a few people and aliens who have died over the course of the two SF novels, but in the end it's difficult to decide whether the spirits were "real" or if the shaman is simply insane. In another set of novels, the main POV is able to rewrite reality (but not history) by application of will, but doesn't really understand the process or the implications. It takes a couple of books for her to fully understand she's being used, then she has to fix what she's been tricked into doing.

In the sense of the character being a creative? Being creative isn't often important in my stories, but my characters have things they do beyond what is necessary for the stories. Almost all my characters cook, and at least one of them cooks for a party that proves pivotal to the story (the shaman above). Caramelo in Inklings is a "spirit" photographer. It's important for the story as the MC wants to get him a job because she finds his work amazing. His artistry allows me to add a visual component to how the magic flows in the story.

#WordWeavers #Writing Day 3 - Who is your most creative character?

All my LI's are creative people. Some write poems. Kao wants to be an author and Ume is an author. In terms of creative material that appears in my novels Kao and Shiro are tied with several Hiaku appearing in the text. Plot wise Ume is the most creative. Konbini Idol is her telling the story of Fukitsu, Tomo, Kan-chan, and herself.

Currently, Ume is busy writing three ongoing stories, "Konbini Idol," "The Handmaiden's Tears," and ghostwriting "My Undersea Harem."

#WordWeavers #Writing 03 Who is your most creative character?

It depends on what we call "creative".

Maistro has macgyvered many solutions to very complex situations with duct tape and a multi-tool.

Dr. Apocalypse is seen as a creative guy because the "wacky stories" he's always telling.

Laura is said to be a really good painter. A broad brush painter, Bob Ross (on drugs) style.

And the medical regenerator is very creative with his healing/rebuilding techniques…>=)

3 Most creative character?

Creativity is hard to measure like that.

What I like is the unexpected creativity. Various characters are raised to be fighters. The men in the kingdom are solely applauded for their martial skills, so I like it when Lazarus writes poetry while commanding an army, Dionysus draws funny animals as he is competing in a tournament, and Sabre, who was raised to be an assassin, uses his shadow magic to illustrate bedtime stories for his daughter.

3/6: Who is your most creative character?
Define ‘creative’. Conventional associations with art, music, etc, seem too narrow to me. Consider the early pages of ‘Vows and Watersheds’, where Jerya and Hedric bond over the idea of measuring the distance to the moons; is that creative? Why not?
I don’t yet have a character in print who is seriously into art, but if you can hang around for Books 5 and 6…

#wordweavers Jun 3: Who is your most creative character?

Joseph Haydn and Ludwig van Beethoven feature in #TheMindOnFire, but they aren't truly mine. So, of my original characters of that story, it's probably Nicolette.

My characters don't tend to engage much in creativity. That is something to keep in mind...

June 2. If your MC listened to your favourite music, what would their reaction be?

Interest, but not overly much. Niklas would wonder at the different sounds.

It's the baron and Nicolette who would want to know all about it.

Er. sorry, can't do this one. Strange it may sound, but I really have never seen an advertisement of that sort in real life.
I also can't quite picture my cast working as a band. They gotta be the most disorganised and dysfunctional band ever and only make the tunes clash.

Jun 2. If your MC listened to your favorite music, what would their reaction be?

I struggle to decide what my favourite piece of music is. But J. S. Bach is certainly my all-time favourite composer. If MC listened to it, he’d be very amazed at first, since it’d be something completely new to him. He didn’t know music could be so structured, for lack of better word. I don’t think he’d like every work by Bach. But if he listened to, say, St Matthew’s passion, I’m sure he’d be brought to tears, without knowing he was crying.

Because, imo, this masterpiece is just that powerful. If one is a being capable of feeling at all, one will be deeply touched, whether one knows about the context or even has prior experience with this type of music or not.

Games…

"Hey, Tseluna," Rory began. "Usually on Wednesdays, I have game night with my friends."
"And you want to play 'Demon Quest' with your friends tonight?"
Rory looked at her hopefully.
"Can I play too?"
"You want to play?" he said, in shock. "A girl? And aren't you a little too old to play?"
Tseluna transformed, like she had at the festival, into a young, black woman who looked about Rory's age, wearing an unfamiliar school uniform. She twirled around, lifting her skirt.

31 Do your MCs enjoy games that are more physical or intellectual?

Zomazar: I love games that prove my fast wit and stimulate me mentally, I must prove my mental acuity and intelligence at every turn.

Urfaeshard: Contests of speed, agility, and strength are my forte! I use my mind a lot during fulfilling Contracts, I love to blow off steam using physical prowess.

May 31 — Do your MCs enjoy games that are more physical or intellectual?

Katja would be up for both, if she has the headspace and time to play. She might argue that she's not up to the task, but she would not back down from a challenge.

Max, main SC, would definitely prefer the physical ones if asked.

2405.31 — Do your MCs enjoy games that are more physical or intellectual?

Wintereyes has never heard of... What did you call that? Games? She'd be interested in learning more about Township people if you would be willing to teach her.

The devil-girl is familiar with the concept of games, and she's done role playing games—as in trying to act the part of various people she might deal with in social situations (estate parties) or in real life (tenant farmers, officials, miners, petty rulers, etc.) Doing well meant she'd face less anxiety when hosting or negotiating with real people. Social anxiety was one of the many reasons she would later run away.

Things like board games or sports games? She wouldn't see the point. She was a prizefighter. Though people considered it a sport, that was never a game for her. It was how she would earn tuition and hone her fighting skills, and get sucked into the mob.

So physical or intellectual? She'd definitely enjoy physical games better.

5/30 — Are you comfortable writing from the POV of a child? Written any?

One of my characters in "In The Eye of The Storm" and "Through the Opera Glass," Clarice, is a child when we first encounter her, and a teenager later on. I admit that she was rather like me as a kid, bookish and rather serious. I found it easy to take some of my childhood experiences and translate them to her life during and after WWII.

May 30: Are you comfortable writing from a child's POV? Written any?

I wouldn't say comfortable, but I have written a couple.

One that comes to mind is "Imaginary", about a boy with a bunch of imaginary friends who are all alternate versions of himself. The story follows him and his alternates as he grows up and grows older. It was an interesting exercise, writing a POV short story that spans a lifetime.
