YouTuber: This punch needle project wasn't working with the knitting yarn I had, so I picked up some cheap embroidery thread to use instead because it comes in sooo many more pretty colours.

Apparently there is a difference between wool and embroidery stuff but I don't know what it is.

FYI for yarn-crafters, ribblr.com uses 'A.I.' yarn pattern matching to "assist you in buying the correct yarn for your projects" and it's trash.

Attached Amigurumi picture illustrates why:

Image: Stitches Bear character from Animal crossing Amigurumi mini plushi - made from at least 6 colours. Yarn Suggestion states 7 skeins of ONLY PINK yarn can complete this project

Not naming designer I assume it's not their fault in any way

Yarn people, textile people : I have found these amazing works. The woman who made them has died, and she never explained what her technique was. Embroidery? Crochet? Can any of you suggest one? Right and wrong sides shown

Are you a MAN who is scared of YARN?

Do YOU want to create MANLY KNITS with colour palettes ESPECIALLY FOR THE MENS?

Whoo- boy do I have a website for you!

Unfortunately this is real, not satire 🤣 🤦‍♀️

"Our yarn is created especially for men who knit for themselves and for everyone who knits for men. Our color pallet is designed to appeal to masculine tastes with respect to both traditional knitting projects and more modern designs."

Good day!

Lemme see your WIP's (Works In Progress).

Mine is a modified geometric heart

Original pattern is from the book 'Cross-Stitch to Calm' by Leah Lintz , but I wasn't feeling the pastel colours so converted to Harley Q colours instead.

It's on Aida Count 14 (with 'magic' guidelines) so is going slowly. Am used to 11 count - but wanted something with a smaller footprint.

Whatchadooooin ?

Ok peeps, am bitten by the curiosity bug; What are you making at the moment?

I'm making progress on my LOTR cat blanket, although I had to frog 31 rows so I could redesign the lower branches.

Been flip flopping for the past six days between:

I wanna crotchet all the things!

No .. ?

I wanna knit all the things !

No ..?

I wanna cross stitch all the things!

Really unsure what my brain actually wants to do but it sure seems to involve some form of yarn.. 🤔

Look,

I sew, knit, crochet, macrame and kumihimo. I understand those things.

Still, I look at Quilts and Spun yarn, and freehand Embroidery, and Amigurumi - and my brain screams 'WHAT MAGIC IS THIS!?'

What yarn / thread-craft makes your brain go 'boing' despite knowing how the fundamentals work ?

[Yes I know Amigurumi is knitting / crotchet but it's also structural sculpting which is different to flat piece or loom knitting]

Alas, alack.
Tried to make a leg-warmer.
But had to Froggit back.

Finished! Socks for Dad for Xmas, that's all the Xmas gifts finished for this year (except for hubs' because he's not sure what he wants)

Now I'm on to a possibly long-term project - I have a lot of sock yarns which I'd like to use up, and I'd like more jumpers. I have made a start on one using 2 strands of sock yarn together.
