END THE CRUEL IDITAROD RACE THAT DRIVES DOGS TO INJURY AND DEATH
Three young dogs died during the 2024 Iditarod. Several other #dogs suffered #injuries, #illness, and #exhaustion during the gruesome two-week, 1000-mile race that forces dogs to haul a sled while racing through treacherous Alaskan territory in sub-freezing temperatures.
Five additional dogs died and eight more were injured in collisions with snowmobiles while training for the 2024 event.
We are calling on the Philippine government to enforce legislation to ban the farming, slaughter, and consumption of dogs. #DogSlaughter for consumption was banned in the Philippines in 1982. This ban was reinforced in 1998 via the #AnimalWelfareAct which prohibits killing dogs for food with minimum penalties set at 1,000 pesos (equivalent to about US$22 at the time) and not less than six months in prison.
Dogs are intelligent and are regarded as family by many people. They are loyal, loving and have a long history as companion animals for humans.

Dogs captured for the meat trade are often injured during #transport, suffer #dehydration and #exhaustion, and extreme #terror and confusion at their betrayal by humans, before being violently killed.
Daughter remains in the care of a hospital due to her worsening #mentalhealth issues. This hospital is in another part of the country and aren't great at communicating.
I'm quite unwell. Stress & tension coupled with #exhaustion from yesterday have led to visual #migraine and some #ibs symptoms.
Every time I dozed off I was interrupted by staff or family.
We're hoping she'll be transferred back to her local hospital tomorrow.
