Q. why does the Govt. want the GMC to also regulate physician associates & anaesthesia associates?

The BMA thinks this will 'muddy the waters' on regulation of the & will lead to confusion about whether they have actually seen .

But, perhaps the key thing to ask is what are the trying to achieve?

As elsewhere they are trying to normalise the de-professionalisation of staff & dilute skills... in this case, to further damage the NHS's reputation!

The takes many forms... and management & staff relations is one (more).

In a defunded, stressed , with staff burning out & over-worked (due to unfilled jobs), we can expect inter-personal relations to become strained (to say the least).

In this case, a was driven to take her own life, triggered by a delay in removing herself from a toxic work environment.

Whatever the local issues, behind this is (still) wrecking!

you'll be unsurprised to know that while the is willing to go to ACAS for mediated pay talks, (through 'friends') as said there's an offer on the table, take it or leave it...

One can only conclude that the Secretary thinks by paying hard ball he can 'break' the ... even if in the short-term he may be proved right, in the longer term, this intransigence will have a major impact on Doctors' morale & recruitment.

One more wrecking the !!

More evidence of the effect of the defunding of the :

we can agree that its hard to maintain a functioning if the buildings & equipment are in bad repair or failing.

One way to measure that is the expected cost(s) of meeting current required repairs.

Those maintenance needs that expose the NHS to low risk have actually remained stable while those that offer higher risk of problems have expended.

It will take years & billions of £ to repair the wreckers' work

Healthwatch England concludes that the continuing compounded an already severe issue of waiting for treatment & its impact on wellbeing.

Indeed, while in the short-term they are right this may make things worse, lets not forget that political pressure (short of striking) has had little impact on the defunding of the NHS which is a direct cause of delays.

This is a battle for the health of our country.

Agreed; starving a model of funding does not provide evidence of the need for reform, ir provides evidence that you cannot run an under-funded !

In just over an hour the start their .

I know I keep saying this, but if in the next couple of days your is delayed due to their action, please remember no-one in the NHS wants to harm .

The strikers have been backed into a corner by an aggressive policy of defunding the NHS carried out by a party contemptuous of our !

Lay this at the door and...

There is a certain irony in the news that the number of senior doctors migrating to better paid jobs with better working conditions is growing.

For years, the UK has 'benefitted' from recruiting staff from poorer countries (who have trained staff) for the the NHS.

Now, we have become one of those countries; as the NHS remans subject of wrecking, defunding & attrition on working lives, so the prospects of working abroad grow.

What goes around, comes around!

Finally, finally the has a plan which involves a doubling of the training places for & .

This is (perhaps) a decade late, but welcome nonetheless. However, now the Q. is how to retain them once they've been trained?

Here's an idea:
listen to the & pay NHS staff properly!

as has been demonstrated conclusively by the defunding of the , you cannot have a world class system on the cheap.

If you only read one thing on the today, make it this:

Seven people working in & around the explore the scale & scope of the 's difficulties - they pull few punches & tell it like it is - this is powerful stuff & needs to be widely read;

once you've read it please boost this (or your take own it) so as many people as possible can clearly understand what the wreckers have done in the last decade.

Yet more data on the (self-funded) use of private ;

The plan to make the use of private firms more normal is working; they've engineered an , 'incentivising' those who can pay for private treatment to do so.

Even when they have left office (as they will) their lasting legacy will have been to corrupt & compromise a once world class built on an idea of equal access, replacing it with a tiered service based on wealth!
