Q. why does the Govt. want the GMC to also regulate physician associates & anaesthesia associates?
The BMA thinks this will 'muddy the waters' on regulation of the #healthservice & will lead to #patient confusion about whether they have actually seen #doctors.
But, perhaps the key thing to ask is what are the #Tories trying to achieve?
As elsewhere they are trying to normalise the de-professionalisation of staff & dilute skills... in this case, to further damage the NHS's reputation!
in 2023 #patient satisfaction with the #NHS dropped by 17% leaving levels the lowest since data collection started in 1997.
In an over-stretched system, where the internal market has reduced procedures & patients to economic data (outputs/efficiency etc.) is it any wonder that people do not feel satisfied?
Improving empathy may be the answer, but the lack of empathy is not only a personal issue for #doctors & #nurses, it has been engineering into the NHS by 'reforms'
In the year since #RoeVWade was overturned, the #Republican Party has tested out constantly changing talking points & messages on #abortion in an attempt to make its anti-abortion policies sound less #extreme. #Conservatives are even considering moving away from the term “#ProLife,” fearing that voters have newly negative associations w/the label.
That’s what happened last year to a #Louisiana#woman whose water broke 16 wks into her #pregnancy, long before a fetus is viable. Because the #hospital was concerned about violating the state’s #laws, which #ban#abortion at ALL stages of pregnancy, the #patient was denied a dilation & evacuation, a standard #abortion procedure. Instead she was forced to spend hours delivering a nonviable fetus.
Zij stierf als mens. 🙏 🙏
So yesterday at work - one of the dev teams mentioned in passing that they were doing #database schema cleanup. They are dropping 30+ columns from the #patient table that are no longer used by the application. I asked if they were testing for downstream impact. The response? Crickets, wind in the grass, the occasional owl floating by.
No matter how long I work in IT, I am always surprised by how blind senior architects can be when it comes to data related stuff.
In the past I've found #problems in #software, problems with #websites, with bureaucratic processes, some of which were significant, but they all pale in comparison to this one.
I had ordered my #Librem 14 a few weeks before Christmas and it has been hard to be #patient. I finally got it; the build quality is excellent!
I ordered it to be preinstalled with #QubesOS, though I haven't used Qubes before. At first glance, the learning curve appears somewhat steep, but I'm hoping it is worthwhile for the added security.
I think it is funny that, despite the advances in computing hardware/software, we've come full circle back to waiting 10-15 seconds for an app to boot 😆
