Says #Hyundai, “We’re trying to make driving an #EV affordable.” I think they’re early to understand a feature of the EVs that US automakers are slow to realize. Disruption starts at the low end, and with high interest rates, the low end needs to be lower. Consumers won’t pay a premium because it’s an EV. The early adopter market is saturated. Manufacturers need to appeal to buyers who are buying for transportation utility. https://www.theverge.com/24163520/hyundai-randy-parker-interview-ev-sales-ioniq-sales
@Hypx I never understood how the BEV fanatics hate on Toyota for making a #hydrogen vehicle and completely ignore that Hyundai does. Hyundai makes great BEV’s but their flagship technology is hydrogen fuel cells.
This is why announcements about future BEV plans are meaningless. They can always making conventional cars at an "EV-only" plant. Also, governments are basically just subsidizing car factories with no assurances that they stay BEV-only.
@sgt1372 Yes, it limits your torque and “rev” to simulate an ICE gearbox. It also plays “vroom vroom” noises, and has several “redlines” to choose from.
I would love to test drive it. I agree it’s silly, but you can turn it all off and have a regular EV as well.
