In a break from my daily drone photo series, let me share these interesting (not necessarily good) photos taken today.
The north side of the lake is mostly clear of ice, while the wind pushes the ice southwest. Mille Lacs Lake has 207 square miles of surface area.
The ice is coming off Mille Lacs Lake (in early May) and as the wind blows it against shore it grates together and forms piles, up to 10ft high, of ice chips on the ice and near shore.
I love piliated #woodpeckers. They remain in #Minnesota all year long and are always a delight with their loud call and wide wing span. When I have to remove trees, I try to leave a 3 or 4 foot stump for these guys. Neighbors would like me to take the tree down completely, but I'd rather have these big woodpeckers in my yard than the neighbors.
Wild lose 4-1 and the playoff series 4-2. Season over.
End of the day, our star players who got us into the playoffs didn't deliver. There's going to be a lot of talk of the refs and various bad calls. While that's true, the simple truth of the matter is that we weren't good enough and our star players didn't show up.
Classic Minnesota way to end the season. Being a Minnesota sports fan is frustrating.
Let's see how a panoramic photo does. It's either going to display thin and narrow or cropped off the sides. You probably will need to click it to see it fully.
This shows the Milky Way from the southern sky (right) to the northern sky (left). There are slight northern lights in the north.
Loving my #Minnesota hashtag. So many good things happening here in the #MNlegislature, at long last. #Voting has consequences. Vote for good consequences.
I'm in Chicago today, but have not taken the drone up yet. Here is an image from a few days ago. Flooding on the MInnesota River, west of Minneapolis. More of these to come.
Here's a northern lights shot from last night. It's a vertical shot, so if you haven't changed your setting to see the entire picture, you will need to tap it, click it or smash it to see the entire image.
