A set of film photography impressions taken around this old shopping arcade in Nagano City. All shot with Mamiya 6 and 50mm f/4 lens on Kodak Portra 400 film. Developed and scanned by Yamamoto Camera in Yamaguchi Prefecture.
Matsushiro Station is a - by now - disused railway station of the Nagano Electric Railway on the former Yashiro Line, around 10km south of Nagano’s city center. When I visited less than a year before it was decommissioned, it exuded a very nostalgic and melancholic mood. I shot some details around the station, as well as an image with the station master.
A couple of years ago, my wife and I arrived in Nagano in late December, just in time to catch the experience of a quite significant snowfall around the city. It was lovely.
Day 2 - Takamagahara - Gorgeous day and nice conditions, but only the bottom half was open so I had to do more runs to ski the same distance as yesterday. I skied 11 runs, 8km.
Day 3 - Yokoteyama - Bluebird skies and a lots of fresh artificial and natural snow. I skied 11 runs, but only 6 km today since a university ski team was practicing and it got a bit busy. Myoko and the Sea of Japan are visible off in the distance.
Day 4 - Yakebitai - Cloudy at first but got nicer towards the end of my workout, and the piste was terrific. Skied 11 runs, 11.5km, and fastest max speed so far this season at 82.1 km/h.
Day 5 - Kumanoyu - Cloudy and wet conditions but the piste was surprisingly speedy this morning. Skied 7 runs, 5.5km… Wanted to ski more but 4 bus loads of middle schoolers took over the resort so I left early.
Day 6 - Kumanoyu - it was cold and snowed a bit last night. The lift opening was delayed a bit so I only had a short day. Skied 4 runs, 4.4km and it was nice that the top of the resort was opened up.
New burger joint just opened in our wonderful town. The owner is from California and he made a double cheeseburger for me that’s not yet in the menu. Fab.
Today's set is four photos from Matsumoto in Nagano Prefecture, shot on Fuji Astia slide film that was 16 years past its expiration date (but held up reasonably well). Matsumoto is most famous for its beautiful original castle.
Shot with Mamiya 6 and 50mm f/4 lens on Fuji Astia 100F.
