Early AM, we begin to work on the Django framwork via Python. I've feared the framework for a while, but today I am going to handle it. Never let the programming lang handle me. lol.
Any #emacs gurus able to get mastodon.el running? I was able to add my mastodon-instance-name and my user id as mastodon-active-user to my ~./.emacs file, and opening m-x mastodon generates this in my messages (and I see a ~/.emacs.d/mastdon.plstore file created):
Contacting host: mastodo.neoliber.al:443
Saving file /home/.../.emacs.d/mastodon.plstore...
Wrote /home/.../.emacs.d/mastodon.plstore https://mastodo.neoliber.al/oauth/authorize/?response_type=code&redirect_uri=urn%3Aietf%3Awg%3Aoauth%3A2.0%3Aoob&scope=read%20write%20follow&client_id=...
@RustyEarthfire thanks that was exactly what I was missing! I'm not sure why those instructions didn't show up for me, but besides that one hurdle, it seems like a neat client.
Will be my 1-year anniversary on Mastodon and the fediverse in June. Been that long since I left Reddit.
But I still feel very much like a noob. For example, I have a hard time grasping why I can’t sign into my Mastodon profile (https://lemmy.world/u/Hyphlosion@donphan.social ) on lemmy. There’s obviously a profile of my posts, so why can’t I sign into it on lemmy and use it?
@Hyphlosion federated identity still isn't really a thing yet, but following works between most systems. Mastodon will hopefully support groups eventually and that will make subscribing to lemmy communities here easier, and hopefully the reverse will happen too. To get the best experience, and account in each platform is needed for now. Federated identity would be the holy grail of distributed social for sure, though I think an everything client that wraps all your accounts would be cool too.
Is there an obvious way for argparse to check if the source file and destination file are the same? ie. the user has accidentally inputted the source file twice?
This doesn't work:
if args.source_file == args.dest_file:
do something
@Mapedd By repository you mean a registry I take it? Not necessarily, you could also build the image on the target machine but a registry helps if you want to deploy to multiple machines and build only once or if the machine is slow/has little memory. Often the build is more demanding than running the container and can take long on the target machine or simply runs out of memory.
Another small victory for a #linux#noob lol... Couldn't log in due to the full partition... Didn't think about #timeshift eating disc space like crazy...
...but...problem sorted and I feel like climbing #PendleHill :)
Hey guys, I need a tech advice.
I've never used a RaspberryPi and I would love to host a couple of telegram bots (no hard tasks) or a couple of light websites. The doubt is the following:
is the RaspberryPi Zero enough? Or should i buy a more expensive one?
Please answer seriously, as I said I'm new to RaspberryPi :amogus:
@davespice I bought the Zero 2w and I have to say that it is quite useless for what I wanted to do... The problem is the RAM (like 500mb) and it get also worse if you try to installa x64 OS (due to library compatibility...). NVM 😅
Hiya, I'm learning html & css...
I'm trying 2 understand how i can center buttons. I don't want 2 use divs right now (bc I want 2 learn the appropriate elements 4 now). The divs will come later when I have basic understanding.
The screenshot is underneath.
I've styled my button w/
{display: block;
margin: 0 auto;}
I also realized that I put a padding at 20px & the width 200px;
I feel that it has to do with the 4 elements I gave above...
EVERY tech tutorial will explain terminal commands, and hold your hand to help with absolutely everything until it gets to software that isn't theirs. Then they leave you in the dust with a half-fast explanation of what you want to do, but not how to do it.
FRIEND. No..
This is why I'm following your instructions. Don't stop midway through the process when it comes to actually doing the thing
I want to support your thing!
This is precisely why youtube and video tutorials are important. Showing is important. You can't magically forget crucial parts of how to do something when I'm literally watching you!
Question: can one make a list in #Mastodon that includes accounts you are not following? I used to use lists as "alternative timelines" to keep my Home feed uncluttered, but that seems to be impossible here? Or maybe I am just a #noob.
Question de newbie: un bot Mastodon, il faut que ça s'héberge quelque part? Si oui, vous connaissez des solutions gratuites? Faible fréquence de messages (genre 1 par jour).
