As we near the end of the month, please remember that your instances are run by individuals who pay for hosting of services to provide you the tools we all get to use to interact with each other.
These hosting services cost money, so if you can spare a few bucks, please support your admins!
Here at #AllThingsTech we give you the choice of making a one-time donation or by subscribing with a monthly amount that you'd like to support the instance and the admins with.
All donations go back to the instance to cover all hosting costs 100%. Nothing goes to the admins in any way.
Currently, AllThingsTech has monthly costs of about $140 that comes directly out of our pockets. So again, any amount helps more than you can imagine!
If you're hosted in astrodon.social, please be aware that our admin @sebinthestars has a Buy Me a Coffee account where we can support him — at least partially — with small donations…
He keeps us both updated and safe, so please consider giving him a few cloud-free nights…
If you're new to #Mastodon or the #Fediverse, remember that supporting the service you're using is a good practice and we should pick up this habit, of course if you have the chance. Freedom from the data market's fuckeries comes with a price, the self hosting price.
Throw a few bucks in the hat for your instance’s admins. These sweet servers don’t pay for themselves by harvesting your online activity, listening to your private conversations, and constantly tracking your location, and gosh darn it, that’s worth something. #StrangerSocial#Mastodon#SupportYourInstance
Since last year I’ve watched #mstdnca grow and start to diversify. I’ve seen more wide-ranging discussions, journalism, constructive & kind conversations… but no ads or Nazis. Amazing.
I don’t use “x” (🙄) any more. Feels great. But this site isn’t free. Server space costs a lot for tens of thousands of us. Unfortunately, mstdn.ca loses money each month.
If we want to keep this place, our community needs to pay for it. If you can, join me in making a monthly donation:
Wholeheartedly agree. We set up a monthly donation to mstdn.ca almost a year ago, because we enjoy our community here. If everyone donated a little, we could be assured our community will be here for years to come.
Just a friendly reminder that admins and mods do a lot of various things for the instances they run. Server costs aren't cheap, time isn't cheap to keep things running so any time users donate to those costs it's always greatly appreciated!
Myself and @kylewritescode here at #AllThingsTech appreciate any donation that's made and those donations go directly to the costs of the servers that run the instance, wiki, blog and so much more. (cont...)
While the month is half over, that means it's only about 2 weeks until it's time to "pay server costs" again here at #AllThingsTech
If you enjoy the instance and if you have the ability to do so, help support the instance by making a donation. Any amount helps cover server costs. You can do so via the link below.
You know what I haven't seen on Mastodon since I joined? Ads.
What's funny is I can't remember ever intentionally clicking through on a Twitter ad in over a decade. Yet, I have monthly recurring payments setup to support multiple Mastodon instances. Funny that.
