Health targets - U.K.

https://www.channel4.com/news/england-aes-worse-than-scotland-and-wales-on-key-4-hour-target-analysis-finds

The comparison between health services is a barren one unless it is used to improve things for all of us.

But as the BBC, Guardian, Times, Herald and Scotsman seem determined to use it to beat up Scotland, it is only fair to mention this.

They won’t.

Ps. Graph show top performer

Wen,
@Wen@mastodon.scot avatar

No good news though

Today, the Office for National Statistics published a comparison of the proportion of patients waiting more than four hours in A&E and found that on this key NHS measure, the worst performing was England, followed by Wales, with Scotland faring best.

Though in all three nations, things have got worse over the past decade.

I am amused that C4 used the Scotland only graph to illustrate the clip though. Who would have thunk it?

Recent developments in one of Russia's most secretive zones, our team “Frontelligence Insight” has spotted facility expansions and new constructions on the grounds of Sarov, formerly known as Arzamas-16, the birthplace of the Soviet Nuclear Project.

Nestled in the Mordovsky Nature Reserve, a seemingly serene forest 370 km from houses a complex of secret facilities. With a history dating back to the Soviet era, it played a pivotal role in the program and the production of nuclear weapons.

A new Sarov research facility built a few years ago, accommodates the UFL-2M High Energy Laser for nuclear research, production, simulating nuclear warhead detonation, and assessing the functionality of old warheads.

This substantial development in the Russian military-industrial complex demands further investigation.

And roughly 800 km from Kharkiv (Bober range)

Even though I think is the superior choice when it comes to data anything, I think I might work on a python edition of my book on reproducibility. Those notebooks hosted on Github without any requirements.txt or Dockerfiles need to stop!

Also, if I do this, I'll be using tidyverse-inspired packages exclusively: siuba, plotnine and Quarto. But there's nothing like {targets} in , and pkg dev isn't as polished either!

craterlet,

@brodriguesco Does anyone know of something like {targets} for SQL? I’m using DuckDB for a project because of data size and data type requirements, but losing targets feels like a big step backward. I looked at DBT, but that seems to be addressing different needs.

We're looking for a research software/data engineer for a short-term position building data pipelines for a field + lab research project.

If you're a R data wrangler, and know about at least some of: the {targets} pkg, GitHub Actions, and working with Web APIs like AirTable, Google Sheets, and Open Data Kit, we'd love to hear from you!

$50-60 per hour, ~12 weeks full-time, remote from anywhere.

St. Petersburg for Navy Day 2023, I noticed something odd on the two corvettes anchored in the Neva River.

Both Zelenyy Dol (Buyan-M) and Burya (Karakurt) have their MG-757 Anapa-M anti-saboteur dipping sonar deployed in the port side.

The Neva River is only 46 miles long and flows from Lake Ladoga to the Gulf of Finland, in the eastern part of the Baltic Sea. Before joining the Baltic, the Neva splits into several branches forming a delta, where downtown St. Petersburg is located.

Neutralize the barbarians.

New blog post: Reproducible with Nix, part 2 -- running {} pipelines with

https://www.brodrigues.co/blog/2023-07-19-nix_for_r_part2/

Danwwilson, to random

The vibe at work lately has very much been: you can be a {targets} pipeline, and you can be a {targets} pipeline. Everything can be a {targets} pipeline.
Remember, if you're using {targets}, you're almost guaranteed to find something helpful in {tarchetypes} too, whether it be some different target types that mean you don't have to set the format or want something like tar_age() that will always run after a defined period. If Will were on fedi, I'd shower him in praise.

Dear Please take a look
Version 1.2 of known 🇷🇺 Moscow air defence locations & ranges thru July 11.

Key:
🔴 circle = Pantsir 11-mi SAM range
🟢 circle = Pantsir 2.5-mi 30mm cannon range

▪️ S-400s have ranges that cover whole map
▪️ALL Pantsirs seen have been ID'd as S2s
▪️ P-18-2 VHF radar at Salaryevo

▪️In the gaps there are SAM/AA trucks elsewhere that have not been seen yet.

I would encourage observers to think of the gaps as locations to look for other AD systems rather than think this is some kind of point of weakness.
