I wrote an article for Unsustainable Magazine that is based around my dissertation research findings about what it means to wish for systems overhaul. The consequences of that desire are what I consider now in this article. It gets a bit personal; I am embedded within my own specific context and my observations come out of that situation.
[#ActuScience@IRAP ] A young IRAP PhD student formulates a new #theoretical model of the giant #magnetospheres of the planets #Jupiter and #Saturn: "By considering only the global motion of the #plasma (coming from the moons #Io and #Enceladus), it is possible to understand it simply as... a competition between various rotation resistances!"
I'm about to embark on my second week long fast (3 days "water" + transition in/out days) targeting potential reduction in cancer risks. I've made some small tweaks from the lessons learned from the one in July, hence Version 2.0.
@hackbyte I went into that a bit in my write up in July on the theoretical benefits of fasting. The research Dr. Valter Longo and others have done shows evidence in cellular and animal models as well as indicators in biomarkers in humans. There was also a more direct experiment Longo did with people on chemotherapy being divided into one group that fasted through it and in that study there was a statistical benefit to that group. So those are some good indicators that it may help but they are all very preliminary at best.
While this isn't cover news, in the spirit of the sub, I'd like submit the work of Douglas Dixon, who wrote several books, including the bestiary After Man in 1981, about how the animal world would evolve after the end of human civilization. The link above goes to the fandom version of his bestiary.
My name is (unknown), and I'm a #student at the University of NC at Chapel Hill. I'm a physicist (well, not exactly but soon🫠) and a music producer. My field of study is #theoretical#Physics and #quantum mechanics, although I'm still learning QM. I'm also interested in #philosophy#climate science, and physics. I'm obsessed with The Expanse, science fiction, and #mars. I've been diagnosed with severe #ADHD and #anxiety.
This post was accepted by the high council itself. #introduction
