Been working on 2P rules for Battle of Mackinac Island with the SNAFU team. Which has led to rethinking the 1P rules. Which has then led to rethinking 2P. And back and forth. But I really like the system that's evolving here. 👍 #wargames#boardgames
There was a quote in a wargame group that got me thinking. Broadly speaking in the non-wargame design world, striving for simplicity is a common goal. Making something useful and clear without any unnecessary elements. Elegance is the Holy Grail.
Does that apply to wargame design or are there enough wargamers who crave chrome that it calls that general design axiom into question?
Not in an elitist way but the topics are so broad, and not focused on one evil subject. We still get that in but then you have the pure, refreshing content.
You get into disagreements and discussions, but they usually end with a follow or at least ends without battle scars and wounds.
My skills get tested due to my #ParkinsonsPlus on a regular basis.
#Twitter was physically & cognitively injuring me.
"It’s increasingly looking like this may be one of the most hilariously inappropriate applications of AI that we’ve seen yet." I am riveted by the extensive documentation of how ChatGPT-powered Bing is now completely unhinged. @simon has chronicled it beautifully here: https://simonwillison.net/2023/Feb/15/bing/
Thanks for this additional piece of information, Simon.
It reminded me that I had wanted to add a word in my toot: indelibly.
As any #SciFi aficionado will tell you:
there should be a built-in self-destruct mechanism when tampering with these Laws or copying or moving the #AI to another system.
Another classic movie comes to mind in this respect, #Wargames...
