Every heat pump is an air conditioner, not every air conditioner is a heat pump. They require a reversing valve to function both ways.

The furnace doesn’t need to change. I have a nat gas furnace with an electric heat pump. You can also do electric heat pump with an electric air handler. There are plenty of combos.

That said, every year I run the numbers and despite my heat pump being ~300% efficient my 95% efficient nat gas furnace is still cheaper to operate (based on the cost of each energy source). I’d LOVE to go solar and operate as close to 100% electric as possible but with my old growth trees and shitty house orientation I wouldn’t even break-even in the lifetime of the panels. :(

When looking at it that way it’s actually a pretty impressive accomplishment. Yes it’s not exactly in-line with the population but that would be damn near impossible to do given the various demographics across the entire US.

I assume you don’t suffer from it. Even with the house closed up, the AC on, multiple air purifiers running 24/7, and regular antihistamines it’s still a fucking bitch during pollen season. Hell even adding a Sudafed while venturing outside doesn’t fully negate the effects.

You learn to deal with it, but it’s still sucky.

Unless Texas is somehow different than Ohio (possible, I know) people aren’t responsible for this. The power company is the one that should be maintaining proper clearances, installing protective devices to isolate sections, etc.

I have a 2015 Honda Pilot with a roof rack. Can seat 8 and tow 4400lbs (probably not both at the same time, lol). I can also throw full sheets of drywall or plywood on the top (within reason). I’ve hauled 1000lbs of stone in it. Has no problem with 10ft PVC pipe or lumber. Thing is a fucking swiss army knife of a vehicle.

My mother is thoroughly addicted to Facebook and literally gets all her news from there. I keep sending her warnings about more targeted AI generated content and she keeps shrugging it off saying she “does her own research and doesn’t just blindly accept what gets posted.” Which from talking to her I know is total bullshit. I don’t know how to pull her out of it…

It’s interesting your bring this up. Not long ago I was having basically this exact same discussion with my brother. Baring you second point, I honestly don’t know how I feel.

On the one hand - if it’s strictly images for himself and it DOES dissuade seeking out real CSAM (I’m not convinced of this) then I don’t really see the issue.

On the other hand - I feel like it could be a gateway to something more (your second point). Kinda like a drug, right? You need a heavier and heavier hit to keep the same high. Seems like it wouldn’t be a stretch to go from AI generated imagery to actual CSAM.

But yeah, I don’t know. We live in an odd time for sure.

Not only that, but if any of them are on any kind of social media AT ALL or hell even listen to the radio or watch TV it seems like it would be damn near impossible to avoid a random headline here and there. This trial has been covered ad nauseam by both US-based and international news outlets. Hell on a Windows PC if you open up Bing with the default settings you get a news page in your face.
