Federal government GIVES 200 million taxpayer dollars to Alberta to clean up abandoned oil and gas wells that companies are legally required to clean up themselves. Alberta doesn't do the clean up and the Feds want their money back. JFC!

UCP plans to open up another 300,000 acres of irrigation in a watershed that has been overallocated for nearly 30 years. 1.2 million litres of water is an acre foot - multiply that by 300,000. Empty reservoirs, towns without water - because the reservoirs were drained to grow crops for feedlots. Oh ya, bring on another 300,000 acres of irrigation and the water will magically appear.

Part two: BRBC member Judy Stewart SHOULD be well aware that the majority of all diverted water in Alberta is used by industry and agriculture. Of the 12% ish that is for municipal use, over 90% is returned to the system. Agriculture uses most of its water in S AB to grow forage for nearly 6 MILLIOIN feedlot cattle per year - the majority of which are for export. Most of these feedlot cattle are owned by a handful of meatpackers and buyers. More to follow . . .
