It is incredibly sexy when a man will take no for an answer: graciously, kindly, easily.

Guys, you clearly have no idea what a big green flag this is, so I'm letting you know. 💋

AdaraAstin,
@AdaraAstin@smutlandia.com avatar

@gocu54 I can help.

If you ask a question from a place of desperation, the "wrong" answer is going to hurt. If you ask a question from a place of respecting other people's needs and boundaries, and wanting an honest answer that works for all parties, that creates more space to graciously accept whatever answer you receive.

AdaraAstin,
@AdaraAstin@smutlandia.com avatar

@gocu54 Absolutely any context. Recognizing the autonomy, boundaries and agency of other people is always good.

A random question for anyone who watches Turkish dramas:

If you could cast a current Turkish actor to play Mr. Darcy in Pride and Prejudice, who would you pick?

(Is there a hashtag for Turkish dramas? I have no idea.)

@romancelandia

AdaraAstin,
@AdaraAstin@smutlandia.com avatar

I've been having this conversation (as a thought exercise) with a filmmaker friend. My first thought for Mr. Darcy was Ibrahim Çelikkol, because for me a Mr. Darcy needs to A) smolder, and B) brood, and he delivers both in spades. 😂

@grrrr_shark Intersection, Season One, Netflix. Ibrahim Çelikkol is the wounded, brooding love interest.

(But skip season 2, it goes off the rails)

I looked up an ex on a whim and discovered that in our years apart, he has started to lose his hair, despite being relatively young, and is well on his way to being bald.

It's an oddly consistent pattern that men who treat me badly go bald and the ones who treat me well retain their hair.

AdaraAstin,
@AdaraAstin@smutlandia.com avatar

@bougiewonderland Indeed. 😂

AdaraAstin,
@AdaraAstin@smutlandia.com avatar

I should add for the record that I know some spectacularly sexy bald men.

...and my exes do not number among them.

Re: the last boost

Is someone working on a global low/no-covid specific dating app?

Because if god willing there is ever a world where it's safe for me to leave the house again, I would really like to meet people who are:

  • systems thinkers
  • in solidarity with those who have less economic power
  • fighting eugenics and ableism
  • able to resist peer pressure
  • resolved in their convictions
  • thinking for the long term

Truly, I can think of nothing sexier and I mean that with my whole heart.

@AdaraAstin@smutlandia.com avatar

Update: It turns out that the answer is yes!

*I have no affiliation, I haven't check it out, please do your own due diligence, etc.

AdaraAstin,
@AdaraAstin@smutlandia.com avatar

Update II: I took a look, and I would not recommend the website at this time.

I want to love it. But there is no About page or indication of who is behind it, no privacy policy, no statement about what they are doing with user data, and no way to contact the creators of the site.

Right now, regardless of the creators' intentions, it looks like a data harvesting scheme.

I hope they address those issues and turn it into a good and safe app that respects users' privacy and safety.

Vulnerable post: about a month ago I got a hair system (modern vernacular for toupees or wigs for men). I was SO nervous how other people would judge me, but I lost my hair in my early 20’s and before that my biological hair was coarse and really difficult to deal with. I’ve been bald or nearly bald for ~20 years.

I was so over-the-moon THRILLED with how I looked! Like more confidence than I’ve had in the last 40 years (predicated on the assumption I wasn’t a very confident infant).

Even though he was supportive leading up to the big day, when I came home from from the barber that day my husband laughed in my face said I was ridiculous and looked like a little boy. Soul crushing shit.

Yesterday, I went to a in person work meeting (PI planning - LOTS of people) one of the product managers RAN up to me gave me a huge hug and she said I looked amazing and she wanted to know all about it. Her kindness nearly made me cry in a ballroom full of 300+ people.

There’s no real moral here. Just be fucking nice to people. A little bit goes a long way.

@josephthomas We all deserve to feel good about our bodies and outward appearance. Good for you for giving something new a try.

Partners can be really threatened by change. I hope your husband processes his feelings himself and comes around to this confident, gorgeous new you.

I'm right there with you on active kindness: everyone deserves love, support and validation.
