Bahalex,

In short: Make it more difficult and time consuming to take than the bike next to it.

Bahalex,

It’s probably part of it, and being part of a secret in group that gives them a sense of being and identity in this bleak corpo meat grinder of world we live in.

Maybe a bit of non violent disobedience, a desire to get caught and martyr themselves for a bit of notoriety.

It’s probably a complex series of social, psychological, political events that’s just easier to boil down to ‘crazy’ and be amused by their antics.

So you prefer playing as another gender? (quanticfoundry.com)

Well, as a guy, I’ve been asked multiple times why I systematically play games female characters in video games, to the point of skipping a game if I’m forced to pay a male one, with a few exceptions (I really liked Albus from Troubleshooters for example). Whenever there’s romance in a game, I’ll also take the F/F route....

Bahalex,

Lady Dwarf. If there is an option for it, always lady dwarf.

Started with world of Warcraft, I just wanted the least played character type, so Cindie the lady dwarf warrior was born. She lives on in any game where it’s an option.

Bahalex,

If you don’t mind a rogue, a rake, a real scoundrel (anti hero even) I’d say the Flashman books.

George Macdonald Frasier’s series of historical fiction.

Flashy is, by his own admission, not a good person, but a fun easy read.

Bahalex,

I dunno. The guy got a bunch of radio equipment from when he worked at WNYX, started a pirate radio station then moved on to podcasts…

It’s all there in his Wikipedia

“ He also espouses various conspiracy theories, particularly with regard to the government’s suppression of information about extraterrestrial life.”

Bahalex,

If there is no trauma before the police academy, it’s created and cultivated in the academy.

Bahalex,

Man, I thought I was on crazy pills with the lack of nuance here. Everything is black and white with no room for gray or context…

I’m digging the past few days. There have been a number of posts and comments calling it out. The fact that your comment has positive upvotes is a good sign and surprising.

Bahalex,

Stretching. As someone who had sore knees a lot, stretching all the things from lower back to knees help. Im no muscle-ologist so I can’t tell you the names of these muscle groups.

And anecdotally for me, zero drop shoes along with stretching. The cheapo ones from Amazon have held together better and longer than any other ‘name brand’ and for only $20.

Bahalex,

Look up stretches for glutes, hip flexors, quads, hamstrings, ITB (I think that’s what it is) and low back.

There are many, some a bit easier if you’re not quite flexible at the moment. Sorry I can’t be more precise- I’ve got a mental catalog of stretches that I’ve accumulated since high school track 20 years ago… and I’ve heard them called different things, or done slightly differently over the years. I’m not the best example, I tend to do them every once in a while when things get stiff and or tight /sore. …

Bahalex,

That’s because they rebrand everything with their name on it.

Other than the slim veg selection, it’s all prepared food and snacks anyway.

Bahalex,

For those who do care about driving, I’d agree. Where I am in Europe currently, I can hear many cars out of the proper gear, I can see it from the exhaust too. So many people stall trying to park, at stop signs and cross walks. Automatics are smarter and more efficient than humans now- for the majority of people the better choice, since they are lazy, distracted, and/or lack interest in the skill of driving.

Bahalex,

It may have been user error, for me. I’m pretty sure CDs I had bought and ripped to ITunes changed to ‘this song is not on your device’ cloud copies when Apple Music happened- then they disappeared entirely, even though they were files I added to OG iTunes almost 20 years ago.

Sadly, my iPod’s hard drive failed a while ago. I enjoyed the free streaming stuff for the few and fewer times I had music on. I’ll be upgrading the iPod and heading out to sea… again.

Bahalex,

I enjoyed the Redwall series around his age. Yes , they are formulaic after a while, but good fun pulp adventure for kids.

Bahalex,

Where does one report the loss of the card? Or to who?

Best tracking device for a stolen bike?

I plan on riding bike for often and while I have invest and will continue to invest in the typical security measures (D lock, wheel lock, etc.). However, in the extreme case that it should get stolen I want a way to track it down. I was thinking about getting a Tile tracking and place it within the frame of my bike but there’s...

Bahalex,

I do the same. I’d add; make it a little more difficult/ time consuming to take than the next one. I use a chain lock and a u-lock for different bits of the frame. Hopefully a potential thief doesn’t want to spend twice as long on my bike and leaves it alone.

Cycling is ten times more important than electric cars for reaching net-zero cities (theconversation.com)

Globally, only one in 50 new cars were fully electric in 2020, and one in 14 in the UK. Sounds impressive, but even if all new cars were electric now, it would still take 15-20 years to replace the world’s fossil fuel car fleet....

Bahalex,

Cool. What about all those people who live within 5km of where they need to go, and are generally alone in the car.

Just because it doesn’t apply to you in particular doesn’t mean you can’t support and champion a cause that would help in the grand scheme of things.

Help me remember a "back-to-back chaise longue" from TV or film. What would you call this? (sh.itjust.works)

I’m trying to remind myself of a sort-of back-to-back chaise longue or sofa, probably from a scene on American TV or film – possibly of the mid-century or modern style – where I think two characters are having an informal business meeting. But the chaise longue itself is a single piece of furniture with two sides, such...

Bahalex,

William Shatner had an interview show where he and a guest sat in something similar.

William Shanter’s Raw Nerve. images.app.goo.gl/At43fmUMAL1BHFbp9

Bahalex,

This reply seems like management/ hr reply… just as salty as op.

It’s so perfectly fine to respect someone’s autonomy there is a form they can sign- refusal of care. Explain the situation, sign form or take meds. Or, here’s another form- and there is the door. Forcing anything on a competent adult is battery I believe, no matter how beneficial.

Like OP said, chart and move on.

People are weird and react weird to some people. Ask another nurse to try, or ask to swap patients.

Also, sometimes nurses do know better. They see the patient as a whole, and a lot more than the doctor.

Also x2, managers are there mostly in a non medical (and non union) capacity, but to make sure the hospital runs as profitably as possible.

Bahalex,

The big bosses aren’t medical staff, they’re calling is not patient care, it’s profit.

What op is experiencing is delusion in the system and burnout.

OP is right. Document, cya, and move on.

All these downvotes and replies seem to be from people who want to think a hospital is altruistic place of healing. Unfortunately it’s an end stage capitalism hellscape that chews up and spits out most people who give a damn.

Bahalex,

I’m partial the term ‘wonder kill’ for when one does look it up.

Bahalex,

As my poor old grandad would say :

“I wish that I knew what I know now, When I was younger. I wish that I knew what I know now, When I was stronger”

I laughed at all his words, I thought he was a bitter old man.

He may have been speaking of something else, though, it still applies here I think.

Bahalex,

I suggest Redwall. It’s short, it’s awesome. If it’s not a hard cover copy it shouldn’t hurt too much.

Bahalex,

You’re my kind of people.

I’d throw in Charlie Brown Christmas music, for nostalgia sake. I’m actively trying not to be a complete curmudgeon.
