: What is the most satisfying relationship, not necessarily romantic, that you’ve ever written?

Thats a hard one, but I think the deep platonic love between Cerulean (a nearly immortal alien) and Cinta, a human girl. They had such a unique situation (can’t say more without spoilers) and the effect they had on each other and the planet still gets me in the feels.
The novella is Silence of the Song Trees, and it’s on Kindle Unlimited if anyone is interested.🌳👽🌳

: Did you realize what writing was going to be like when you started?

Lol, absolutely not.
I always wanted to write books, but never knew anyone else who did. My first book started as “Let me just write up that powerful dream…” Had no idea what I was getting into, but super glad I took the risk.

: What are your writing plans for the coming year?

Mine are to publish The Ruined (book 3 in my series), finish drafting book 4 and my cozy paranormal romance, and to continue doing in person book signings.😊

And your inspiration in the stars!

: Do you give your stories any epigraphs?

The first two main books (not side novellas) of my series each start with a poem that’s written by one of the characters (Ayanna for The Calling, and Girak for The Chasm.) The third book will have the lyrics of a lullaby the villain Hakan used to sing to his children.

: Can your MC easily tell if someone is a good or bad person?

The star beings can read minds and energy fields around people, so they instantly get an accurate read, but they are also nonjudgmental, so I don’t think they’d think in terms of good or bad. They would more think person I want to be around or person to keep an eye on.

: Have you ever removed a favorite scene for the plot?

Nope. But I originally had three more POV in The Calling: Eka, Balavati, and Educator Girak. Still had the same thing happen, but switched their scenes to Kahali and Atsushi.

The voting is open!
If you’ve read either of my books and want to support me in this Reader’s Choice part of the Indie Inks Awards, please consider voting. I believe you get one vote for each category.

No pressure to vote, but I know a lot of these readers’ choice contests don’t get much publicity, and I wanted you all to know in case you want to join in.😊💜

: Have any of your scenes been inspired by personal experiences?

Not sure how to answer this. My characters tell me the story, so the scenes aren’t directly inspired by my life. But I use my own experiences with energy, consciousness, healing, and meditation to find the words and share what my characters are experiencing, because most people have never experienced such things, and I need to sort of “translate” the star being experiences into something most people can understand.

: Do you write characters with different sexual orientations or gender identities from your own? What guides your writing?

My sci-fi series has 3 out of 9 total LGBTQA+ POV MCs:

Bleu is cis, heteroromantic, ace
Kahali is cis pansexual
Ari is gender fluid pansexual
The Ruined, as a species, determine their own gender & sex. While this is all mentioned (except the Ruined) in book 1, it’s not really until the 2nd book that it’s on the page.

: Do you have a favorite review of feedback on your writing?

Yes! This review for The Chasm, the second book in my series is one of my favorites. I gave out ARCs to a bunch of reviewers, so I don’t know who wrote it, and that somehow makes it even more special. 😊

You’ve seen the pictures I’ve drawn of the giant cave diggers in my future ice age series. These tunnels they discovered in Brazil look like the rock and ice tunnels they create!

: Who supports your writing the most?

I grew up with very few connections. Book people have always been where I fit. Writing is the area of my life where I feel the most supported. My kids & I talk daily about our MCs. I have 2 irl friends who’ve read every book & I call them when I’m stuck on something. And I’ve met amazing writer friends online, many of whom now beta read or critique-exchange with me. And then there’s all of you & your amazing projects that I love hearing about.💜

: catchup: If your antagonist were on TikTok what sort of media would they post?

If Commander Savas came back in time to now, he would be one of the biggest & most extreme environmentalists around. He knows the ice age that’s coming, and his mission involves saving humans at all cost. He would use his good looks to his advantage. He would seek out the leaders with true power in his country (not the U.S.) and find ways to influence them to do his bidding. He’d be everywhere.

: What is the most important change your MC undergoes in the story?

For the current WIP:
(I need to be a bit vague because of spoilers)

Bleu: how he sees himself and the changes this brings in his relationship with both an adversary and another

Rana: can’t say

Atsushi: his decision around what sort of person he is regarding values in wartime

Kahali: finds his inner strength

Savas: learns who he really is when pushed to the limits

: Do you use foreshadowing in your writing, and it so, how do you do it?

The short answer is apparently I do, and I have no idea?😂

I’ve only consciously used foreshadowing twice in my series, once with the weather and once with a sign of sorts from nature. But I’ve had quite a few readers tell me they love how I use it so well and then proceed to mention stuff. I just sort of smile and nod and pretend it was planned.🤣🤣🤣

My youngest drew some chibi art of two of my characters in my SFF series. Meet Rana and a grumpy Commander Savas.🤣🤣🤣
Didn’t they do a great job? I love these so much.

Chibi style drawing of a comicly young long Commander Savas pouting with his arms crossed. Oversized head with brown hair, exaggerated blue eyes, an orange arctic parka, snow pants and boots.

: Do you use symbolism in your stories?

I do, but I don’t plan it out. I’ve spent most of my life interested in symbols, and I find that (maybe because of my lifelong interest?) they naturally pop up in the first draft. Then I decide whether to keep them and maybe embellish a bit or to dump them.

Be gentle with yourself and others.

It’s ok to do things the easy way.

It’s ok to not finish your to-do list.

It’s ok to be grumpy sometimes and eat the holiday treats.

You’re still amazing.💜

I still need to limit screen time, due to my concussion, and I miss interacting with all of you as much as I was in the past. Hopefully this month is better. 😊💜
